Was looking forward to the visit but the guy who welcomed us rattled off the history so fast we couldn't take it in. It was quite expensive to go inside and they don't take cards which drained our cash supply. The house is nice but not well maintained. Some groups had a tour guide but we were left to our... More

Went to this with much anticipation. The welcome at the reception was good but that's where it ended. After making our way to the front door we rang the bell and were ushered inide by an elderly woman who mumbled directions and that was that! There are no written signs anywhere telling of the history and the whole house needs... More

This was the purpose of our whole weekend away, to meet some ghosts. Unfortunately I didn't meet/feel any ghosts. Straight away when you are met at the gatehouse by one of the family, you know that they love this old property. We were met by a daughter, I didn't catch her name, but she did have memorable flaming red hair.... More

Really embarrassed to have this place listed as an 'attraction' in my region. The $12 entry is much too steep. The disappointment begins when you are shuffled along a side path up to the grubby side of the house then around to the front door, instead of entering through the grand front gates and seeing the beautiful front of the... myself my family and friends took the overnight stay. it was fantastic from the time we arrived,we booked in and sat in the courtyard and were having a wine and a chat, and i was looking at the brickwork how strait the lines were,so i got up and walked toward the front of the house at the bottom of the stairs... I feel like they are con artists. They are complete jerks, peddling for your cash and shuffling you through like a side show. I have never met such rude people and I will NOT be back, nor do I recommend. The $12 entry fee is exorbitant for what you get, and the only "good" reviews they get are for the... More

Friends and I recently done the overnight tour of Monte cristo. Definitely worth going. Great home cooked meals. Night tour very interesting didn't see anything but definitely felt there was a presence in the house. Our guides lawrence and Sophia were terrific and they were able to provide more insight not only to the restoration but the history of the... More

I and 3 others did a dinner, tour and sleepover. We where all excited to stay in "Australia's Most Haunted House". The hosts, Lawrence and Sophia are lovely and obviously very proud (rightly so) of the house. The dinner is basic but tasty. The bathrooms (4 - each with shower and toilet) are clean with amazing ceramic toiled and matching... More

Our stay at Monte Cristo was great despite the scorching heat (45 and 47C days). I didn't capture anything ghostly on film but I heard strange noises and voices, had oppressive feelings and felt someone beside me in the coach room, so I would have to say it was a successful ghost hunt. You need to keep in mind that... More

First welcome was a little terse but that soon changed to a warm welcome and some fabulous story telling by Reg, Lawrence and Sophia. This house is worth a visit for its history & antiques and the ghost tour aspect makes the tour more interesting. 12 friends booked the whole house and staying the night was the better way to...
