The owners need to seriously work on their meet and greet. The crabby old woman who answered the door mumbled a few instructions and left us. For the $12 entry we expected some more information. Yes you can buy a booklet for an extra $5, but we thought our tour would be more informative and guided. The homestead, once a... More

Beautiful house with a chilling history. As soon as you walk in you can definitely feel the 1800's decadence that comes with the decor. As you walk around you re live the Victorian era all over again. A fascinating place

Sooooo much knowledge & passion from Lawrence & Sophia which helped to make the night so special due to the atmosphere & the setting as well as the company. We arrived & checked out the grounds during the day so we could see if there was a difference during the night. We were lucky enough to have dinner there that... More

After being informed about this homestead the day before, we drove from the Victorian border to Junee, NSW. Arriving at the Monte Cristo Homestead on a cold and eerily quiet day added to the character and atmosphere of a place. We were greeted by Sophia who gave us an insight into the history of the place; after this we were... More

Yes the house has a soul but a dull one. There had been efforts to restore the grand old property. It does take a lot of effort to maintain this grand old dame but it needs constant attention. I was saddened to see her grandness was lacking life. Collecting a fee and failing to see upkeep efforts was disappointing. Call... More

I didn't see any ghosts and the places needs a few million to do up. It's still interesting but in a sad dilapidated way...

We visited during the day so we weren't prepared for any ghostly appearances . The house was small and the furniture not from the originally home, but the home was left in ruins and in those days it would have been huge. The owners have done a great job in restoring the home. We enjoyed touring the home and stables... More

Though my visit was during the day my main interest is the ghostly activity. The homestead was much smaller than I imagined, with a self guided walk through. The staff were nice, as were the displays in the house, though apparently nothing was original to the house. From what I experienced a lot of the haunting is based on rumor... More

We were on holidays doing a trip around Australia and on doing some research on places of interest on our route I came across the little town of Junee and the Monte Cristo Homestead. I am very much interested in the supernatural and so just could not say no to a visit!! We arrived later in the day at around... More
