The best thing should do is go surfing in the Byron Bay and watch the surfers. Then test the best macadamia in the world. We also buy some tree oil for our friends.

I find the lighthouse quite boring to me, but the view from the lighthouse is magnificent! To me, Byron Bay is a heaven to backpackers, especially if you have a caravan. I can spend a week here surfing and lying on the beach enjoying the sun. Life is so laid back and relaxing here!

We stayed at Belongi Fields caravan park and paid for 3 nights over Easter at the extreme rate of $35 per person per night. After two nights we couldn't handle the place any more and left early. Worst caravan park I have ever stayed in. Toilet doors don't lock or close properly and that's if your lucky enough to have... More

After travelling through Queensland, Byron Bay was a bit of a relief to come to in many ways... finally, it's safe to swim in the ocean again (well, as safe as the ocean can be.. but at least no crocodiles)!! Although there are heaps of shops and bars and restaurants to blow money on, the best part about Byron Bay... More

This is a place backpackers could spend a week in and not even notice, so laid back and chilled out.

Beautiful location....paradise. Great choice of restaurants and cafes Shame about the significant number of people living in vans parked by the side of the road and in carparks. The town is becoming a little too commercial with shops which are seen in cities and suburbs. Limit on parking times....one hour in some places is not enough time when browsing as... More

We went went in December when it is very hot, but it wasn't intolerable! My partner grew up there and we did some big walks around the hills and beaches! There is excellent vegan food which is a plus! If you're not into surfing/ water activities I would highly recommend the walk up to the famous lighthouse!! Sunrise/ sunset there... More

There is a very chilled atmosphere on this beach, much like the town itself. Heaps of room to spread yourself out. You could probably make a ful sized football pitch without disturbing many people. Great place to relax

Having visited this place a couple of times I can honestly say there is something magical, and enchanting about it. Is it the laid back hippy style approach I loved so much? Is it the most amazing beautiful beach? Perhaps the breathtaking walks up to the most easterly point in Australia? The pods of dolphins swimming in the sea? When... More

Had a really good time at Byron Bay. We drove up to the lighthouse and enjoyed the views of the beaches on both sides. This is pretty close to the eastern-most point on the Australian mainland. We went on a weekend and had to wait about 10 minutes to get a parking spot by the lighthouse. The beach was just... More
