Byron Bay is very beautiful but everything was so expensive!!! We had coffee twice in different places - $12 for 2xcoffees... fish and chips for two on the beach - $29... two beers in the pub $14 No wonder everyone is heading O/S its just so exy. Shame really but don't miss this place just BYO everything.

Great place to go to unwind and chill if you like the sea & Beach. Downside: Has become too accessible in the last 10 years as well as the shop rents are now forcing commercialism into the town which is a detraction seeing shops such as Dominos and Lorna Jane..YUK! Go a bit further out of town to enjoy the... More

It's a small town, but if you're in your 20's, it's a great place to meet travellers, and people who are smoking reefers. It's great if you have a car or campervan to take because you can park pretty much anywhere and it's a short walk to the beach ~! If you're not into partying or into crowds, it may... More

Took an extra long weekend over Anzac Day. Flew out of Sydney at 06.40 and was on the beach by 10.00. This was my first time in Byron Bay. I'd heard stories from friends and the media over the years and I went expecting something rather more alternative than what it turned out to be. The town seems to be... More

I really wanted to like Byron Bay, but sadly, it was not for me. Being that it is the eastern most point of Australia, I wasn't about to pass up a visit, but found the crowds maddening. It's commercial, despite being advertised as laid back and unfetted. Perfect as a stop off for a backpacker, and big on the surfer... More

Our accommodation - At the Beach 92 Lawson Street - was in an excellent location. Allowed us to walk to shops, then to walk to a wedding ceremony and reception. We were also able to walk along the paths to the beach and Lighthouse easily.

10km south of Byron Bay there are two secluded beaches, Whites and Kings Beach. Hard to find but worth the effort of walking down the stepped track to the sand from the small car park at the top.

My first visit to Byron Bay, after 30 years in Australia, and I fell in love with the place. Wonderful, chilled out atmosphere, friendly people and plenty to see and do, and the perfectly glorious climate. What's not to love? I must have walked around for two days with a big smile on my face, feeling that life couldn't be... More

While Bryron Bay's beach is unquestionably beautiful, the town and beach are both ridiculously busy, noticeably run down, and the overall atmosphere is definitely not family-friendly. As new arrivals to Australia from Canada we'd heard so many good reports about Byron Bay's calm, chill atmosphere, but instead we experienced much of the opposite. It was far from enjoyable to drive... More
