I did the 10 am Kayak tour with Cape Byron Kayaks ans was very pleased with the experience! The tour included hostel pick up, all the necessary equipment, brief lesson on how to paddle correctly and a wonderful monring tea/coffee with plenty of Tim Tams. Our guides were super friendly and knowledgeable, telling us facts about dolphins and whales. We... More

We had a brilliant time on our kayak trip, the sun was shining and the seas were calm which made for perfect dolphin spotting conditions. I found the tour guides to be friendly and helpful. Sure there's a bit of paddling/exercise involved but that just means you can eat more of those delicious tim tams during the tea break! Overall... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your trip with Cape Byron Kayaks, we are stoked you enjoyed your time on the water, eating all the Tim Tams it would seem ;-) and of course with the dolphins, winter is spectacular at "The Bay". Enjoy the rest of your stay and thanks again from all the team at Cape... More

We booked onto this tour through wicked travel with the notion that you are 96% certain to see dolphins. The tour had only 6 of us participating and the Ozzy that took us out was funny and helped us all to feel comfortable and keep pace, needless to say we didn't see any dolphins - this happens, they are in... I felt the distance covered by paddling out to the cape was too far for novice paddlers as my back and hips were aching by the time we got out there and then we had to turn around and get back in. We saw half a dozen dolphins from distance but no whales, Wategos Bay was the home to 300... More

Hi, our apologies that you thought the paddle was a bit far for beginners, all the bays kayak tours need to head out into deeper water to increase our chances of viewing the dolphins that are found between Wategos and Clarkes beach and we also find that it gives people the opportunity to view the Cape and lighthouse from a... I did enjoy the time on the water and we did also spot some dolphins which was great but the guides were unfriendly and seemed tired of all the tourists. From the moment we got there they constantly told us to hurry and they did not even let us finish our tea after the kayaking. I don't know why the... More

Lovely sunny day in Byron Bay; we were welcomed by humorous staff who clearly love what they do. It was a bigger group than I expected, around 30 participants altogether on double kayaks. The sea was quite choppy to begin with so it was quite amusing trying to get out into the calmer waters without capsizing! This all added to... More

The guides were friendly & funny but you also feel that they do the tour again and again and are probably a bit tired of it. If you like kayaking and also surf a wave with the kayak, it's a cool tour. If you dont enjoy this, rather go up the lighthouse to see the dolphins from up there. Plan... More

We had a great day despite the bad weather, we saw at least 10 dolphins up close and they were hanging out close to the kayaks pretty much the whole time! We saw a few turtles as well. It was a really good tour and we would recommend it to anyone. The guides were really fun and informative.

Did this tour over a weekend in February and while I am generally confident in the ocean I did not feel confident on this tour. This was not helped by the fact that every time a large wave would come out on the bay one of the tour guides (Harvey I think, young British guy) would sarcastically shout 'OMG WE'RE... More

Visited in difficult weather conditions but the guides were great and nearly killed themselves to get us all out to sea. Unfortunately no dolphins that day but it was still an unforgettable experience. The guides looked after the kids too, much needed help thanks!
