Well worth the effort to walk to the lighthouse as the views and scenery on the way are amazing. You pass the "Most Easterly Point" of mainland Oz so another photo opportunity aside from all the fabulous views. Try cycling there to lessen the walk from the main Byron beach. More

We parked at Watego's Beach at the base of the headland and walked up to the lighthouse. The walk took about 45 mins and was a little on the physical side due to the stairs. fantastic photography opportunities. Park in the lowest car park, which is a dirt one and free, and enjoy the walk up. Go in the afternoon just before the sun sets, and take with you a picnic blanket, bottle of wine and some yummies from town. Perfect. More

Beautiful view however have to pay for parking $7. Worth it if you want to eat at the cafe and walk around but if your not planning that just take the detor trip and get a free glance. More

Be prepared for a hike - I would recommend going over Watego Beach on your way to the lighthouse and following the Rainforest track back.
