It was a fun hike. We saw the balancing rock, and the rainbow falls while we were there. The downside is that the pathways are not marked very well.

Camped overnight one weekend a couple weeks ago. The park was gorgeous and seems well maintained, but beware of HEAVY day tourist/weekend traffic from nearby Raystown Lake (this park is very close to the lake, so camping is convenient for those who don't want to pay fancy resort prices). We didn't have the opportunity to explore the longer trails, but... More

As I attempt to visit all of the PA state parks I am amazed at the beauty of each one. I would love to come back in the spring to see the rhododendrons in bloom. My friend and I spent the morning hiking over the suspension bridge to the Ledges, Rainbow Falls, Balanced Rock and Rhododendron trails. All trails we... More

My wife had been to Trough creek park before. I had the pleasure of going a few years ago and we go back each year. The Through creek park has so much history and things to see. The park also offers fishing, hiking, and camping. Some of the highlights are the Swinging Bridge, Rainbow Falls, Balance Rock, Cooperas Rock, and... More

It started with the ranger on duty. She was wonderful. What is it with rangers, that most of them are so nice? She gave us a map of the park and some advice on the trails. I wound up hiking all of them in two days. A couple of the trails will take you past the balanced rock which is... More

Trough creek is a park owned and operated by the PA DCNR. It is a wonderful place if you enjoy hiking and sightseeing. There are 2 trails you can hike or you can take the main trail which takes you up to the balanced rock. The main trail takes you across the suspension bridge, over across Rainbow falls, and up... On our way to Raystown Lake for the weekend we stopped at Trough Creek State Park. We walked the trail to the suspension bridge and Rainbow Falls. Up to that point the trail was well marked. After we saw the falls however we could not find the trail to the Balance rock. We saw it from the parking lot from... More

So scenic with so many varieties of plants and trees. We loved the swinging bridge and balancing rock. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Also the Ice Mine is amazing!
