Got to the wheel to see an old volunteer hand making washers for the engine. The engine is magnificent, showing how Victorian engineers had to think through so many different possible problems to come up with a design for such an important job. The volunteer was fantastic - knowledgable and full of stories and facts. He started the engine up... More

We are members of the National Trust and have been for many years, we have to say this is the worst experience at one of their sites. We expected to learn about the life of a Cornish miner and the times in which they lived. We did expect an overview of how the mine was operated and the mechanical side... More

Well worth a visit to see the conditions of the miners working the Cornish mines under the sea, and to view the beam engine working. Lovely walks along coast path, and we were lucky to see 2 pods of dolphins making their way up the coast. Stunning. Free to National Trust members. Staff very friendly and helpful.

This site is well worth a visit. The guided tour is very informative and there is still plenty to explore after the tour. Fascinating glimpse into copper and tin mining. The working beam engine is a must see.

Levant mine is an excellent place to visit if you like the rugged Cornish coastline, steam engines, and the old engine houses of Cornwall,s tin mining past. We took the guided tour, saw the beam engine working and heard about the history of the mine from the knowledgeable guide and engineer. Some nice walks along the coast path too.

We decided to go on one of the tours , Anthoney was our tour guide, he was very informative . I found the tour and place fascinating ! Ended staying for 4 hours, so much history, an industrial landscape abandoned , plenty to explore . The old chimneys, remains of the stamps . All this on some lovely coastline.

A very interesting NT property, we were pleasantly surprised. We'd visited the Geevor mine next door some years ago, but we found Levant more to our taste, it seems to have an atmosphere of the old times. We did the guided tour - the guides were great, entertaining and well informed - and all told spent what was the greater... More

As National Trust members we decided to stop by Levant mine as we were in the area (visiting Porthcurno). At first it looks like an almost abandoned relic of the Cornish Mining Industry with ruins of old Engine Houses and chimney stacks dotted across the baron landscape. After looking around for a while we decided to join the guided tour... More

Approach to the mine is via a rough road and track with potholes. No need for the speed humps! May damage your tyres, suspension or wheel alignment. The site is owned and run by National Trust as is most of the coastline around Cornwall. There are 2 tours a day, roughly 11am and 2:30 pm, otherwise it is find your... More

We had a spare afternoon to fill so we decided to visit the mine and we are glad we did, probably one of the best NT sites we have ever visited, we spent longer here that we did at Eden Project. If you visit make sure you go on the guided tour, Anthony, Pete and Geoff were our guides. Pete... More
