We took a trip to Poldark Mine today ... I used to go there as a child and wanted my daughter to see it. On arrival, we were disgusted at the tour charges, £15 each making a total of £45 for the three of us. I refused to pay such ridiculous fees and we decided to take a look at... More

Unfortunately this was once an interesting and good value for money tourist attraction. The mine went bust and is now under recent new management. The mine should be completely closed until the whole site is brought up to a standard of attraction which warrants anywhere close to the expensive adults £15.00 admission charge. The general manager will no doubt leave... More

Thank you for coming to visit Poldark Tine Mine & Open Air Museum. You seem to have missed the entire point of our vision. We are an 18th Century Tin Mine - you seem to be saying that you perhaps enjoyed the tour but at the same time you express your perception as to how the museum and mine should... More

We went in the last week of August. We had driven 90 minutes to get there on the strength of the brochure we had in our accommodation, but it was advertised as a day out for the family. On arrival we were asked to pay our £60 entry fee with CASH??! as no cards are accepted. Luckily we had drawn... More

We are so pleased that you had a great time here at Poldark Mine. Its good that all of the things you mentioned were removed as this would have added to your expenses as all were chargeable at a 15 minute levy that equated to £12 per person per hour for each item. Our new policy thus saved you a... More

Went here in august with my partner and our kids, looked good on leaflet , thinking be there for awhile, cost £40 to get in seemed a lot but thought for a day is fair, went off to the mine which was great lots of walking and really interesting but that's where it ends, there is a tiny museum/ shop... Your review is appreciated as you enjoyed the mine tour but otherwise is a little unfair to say the least. In actual fact there is a lot to do at Poldark Mine and Open Air Museum. We are pleased that you enjoyed our main attraction is the atmospheric mine tour - its the only tin mine you can go down... More

Dear David, I wanted to thank you for your efforts thus far in securing the future of Poldark mine. This historic site as a huge part of Cornish legacy and far too important to leave to ruin. We all look forward to our next outing and seeing what Poldark will have to offer in the near future, Keep up the... More

Thank you for your kind wishes, its not all one person as there is a team of us here and we all love the place. There may be one person in charge and on the deeds, but in fact Poldark has taken him over and not the other way around!!. Its a bit like being custodian of something very special... More

Planned a trip to the mine as soon as we arranged Cornish holiday. We understand that there has been a change of owners and that the kids activities were no longer available. We paid £40 for a family ticket. They were late opening. Café wasn't open and seemed to be in a shambles. No on site workshops were open. So... More

Thanks for coming to visit us. The Car Park and gardens are open from 10 to 10.15 daily. The first mine tour is not until 11.15 as its clearly stated in a very large notice at the main gate. There are two workshops on site that sell wonderful things. They are usually open from 11.00 each day with an occasional... More

Upon arrival at Poldark, we were informed about the current financial and ownership situation, along with an apology from the new owner about any literature that was still out there promoting the location. The kids were still keen to visit, but as the site hasn't currently got any card facilities I had to make the short trip back to town... More

Many thanks indeed for your excellent and fair review of your recent visit to Poldark. We are really sorry that we have no card arrangements at present but it is helping us to keep admission charges as low as we dare so that they are sustainable for the future of the mine. We are sorry for the time you and... More

After reading some of the negative reviews we still decided to go to poldark mine and after reading the notice boards inside we were under no illusions that there were no activities for children so why people are complaining afterwards is beyond me to say its too expensive for an hour underground and learning what life was like in the... We sore the add in the Cornwall tourist guide and as it was raining hard thought this look just the place. On arrival we found out that the mine had sadly gone into administration last September and had new owners . The new owners had put a note up saying this and saying they had got rid of the children's... More

Thank you for braving the elements to come and visit us at Poldark Tin Mine. Our museum and visitor centre is contained in a 1930's industrial building that was part of the Trenear Dairy until it closed in 1972, it was the cheese and egg packing store and is heavily insulated. An historic building in its own right, its not... More

I visited with my husband and 2 young children, it cost us £40.00, according to a local advertisement this was acceptable as there were lots of other activities for the children as well as the underground mine trip. When we arrived none of the advertised activities were available. There was a tired gift shop, a woodworking shop and a cafe... More

Dear Visitor We are genuinely sorry that the old advertising you found was misleading, but we are sure you realise this had nothing whatsoever to do with our rescue and new management of the Mine since June this year - just a few short months ago. Naturally it was impossible to withdraw the leaflets as the Tin Mine was but... More
