A proper pub with excellent beer brewed on the premises, a real local's pub but reports that the natives are not friendly are well wide of the mark. Quirky little nooks and crannies add to the charm and appeal of the place. A proper pub, I bloody love it!

Words like cozy and quirky, while true, might leave people with the wrong impression of the Blue. This is not a cute or quaint pub, not one for the people who go glamping and think they're camping. It's simply a really old pub that has never, I think, closed for refurbishment. The flags on the floor aren't there because they... More

A lovely, old pub with a startlingly similar layout to that of the Bell Inn in Nottingham. So similar it's spooky! Lots of different sized rooms off the long, narrow entranceway

This is an Iconic pub in the Real Ale drinkers world. If you only went there for the beer brewed on the premises you would have done the correct thing. Excellent stuff. The beers are great. There is a range from 4% to 7.3% and something to suit all tastes. Also there are many little nooks & crannys where you... More

The Blue Anchor in Helston is an old Cornish pub full of antiquities ( not all the patrons) They brew their own ale on site (Spingo), different strengths as well to suit all tastes. If you are visiting Helston or the surrounding area, this is one establishment you need to visit. For real ale drinkers this is a must visit... More

Having just joined camra and visiting Helston decided to call in the Anchor . Had a piny of special 6% beautiful, best real ale I have had in a long time, then tried the middle 5% this was just as good. Next time in Helston would definitely call in again. For longer.

We returned here today in between buses on our way from Camborne station to Lizard ready for our latest instalment walking the SWCP. We just had to stop for a swift pint of the Spingo ales - if only the buses were more frequent than one an hour, then we could have stayed longer to try a few more. 😢
