Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning...

Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning promises a unique experience not to be missed where your visit includes both dinner and a show all under one roof in a beautiful converted water mill.

Start your visit with a drink (or two...) in the Water Wheel Bar or, if you visit us in the summer, take a sunny seat outside on the Mill Stream Terrace. From the bar you will make your way upstairs to our restaurant, with views out over the mill stream, where you will find your tickets and programme waiting on your table. The main course is served in buffet style but our friendly staff will be on hand to take your drinks and dessert orders. After enjoying our mouth-watering menu, prepared daily in our kitchens using only the best locally sourced ingredients, you can make your way into the main event of your visit - the theatre!

The Mill Theatre itself is an intimate venue, seating just over 200 people, air conditioned with spacious and comfy seats that won't leave you longing for legroom or calling for a cushion. During the year we produce a wide variety of plays in the theatre, ranging from comedies to thrillers, as well as hosting regular music and comedy nights that will have you dancing and rolling in the aisles.

Whatever your tastes, in both theatre and food, you will be sure to find something to whet your appetite here at The Mill.

School dinners with charades was how we were sold the Mill - nothing fancy, a buffet dinner and a play. OK we thought, let's give it a try. Oh boy what a surprise! Yeah, ok, the car park could do with an extension and more disabled places, but we found a space. The entrance was well lit and the welcome... More

Went to see loves lost and what I wore, although the actresses were excellent, the content and overall production was very disjointed and boring. The food was o.k. Could still be hotter and less choice in vegetables than used to be. As for the decor in the main bar, well, I thought they were still painting as what looks like... More

The Mill could do with thinking the whole experience through. The presentation of the food baffled me. Salad, Cous-Cous, then Steak & Ale Pie. Salmon, Potatoes, Vegetables, gravy, then more salad at far end of buffet. Why not separate them so people could choose, between the two, it would have made self serving more simpler as people kept going back... More

I've been on the mailing list for some years and have had so little time to try the venue out. However with refurbishment in mind and other places in the area to visit I took the plunge! What a pleasant experience it was. All very civilised and welcoming. I thought I would go the whole hog and enjoy meal and... More

Went to see 'Love, loss and what I wore' at the Mill with a friend. Having lived nearby but never actually visited the Mill I have always been curious what it would be like. We were not disappointed! The setting is beautiful and a bit quirky. Food is buffet style with enough choice. Drinks, desert and coffee are served at... More

We go to Sonning 2-3 times every year. The food is good and the shows ( usually a farce) very entertaining. The theatre is cosy and you feel part of it. If you book up make sure you book the centre seats as the seats at the side have limited views and you do not feel involved in the show.... More

Last night we went to the to listen to Glyn Kerslake and Elaine Glover sing in the Waterwheel bar. Oh Boy! What wonderful singers they are. A thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing evening with bar snacks, wine and a coffee. Well done to the Mill for securing such highly respected entertainers for us to enjoy. We’re going again next Tuesday.
