Description: Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning...
Set majestically on the banks of the River Thames, The Mill at Sonning promises a unique experience not to be missed where your visit includes both dinner and a show all under one roof in a beautiful converted water mill. Start your visit with a drink (or two...) in the Water Wheel Bar or, if you visit us in the summer, take a sunny seat outside on the Mill Stream Terrace. From the bar you will make your way upstairs to our restaurant, with views out over the mill stream, where you will find your tickets and programme waiting on your table. The main course is served in buffet style but our friendly staff will be on hand to take your drinks and dessert orders. After enjoying our mouth-watering menu, prepared daily in our kitchens using only the best locally sourced ingredients, you can make your way into the main event of your visit - the theatre! The Mill Theatre itself is an intimate venue, seating just over 200 people, air conditioned with spacious and comfy seats that won't leave you longing for legroom or calling for a cushion. During the year we produce a wide variety of plays in the theatre, ranging from comedies to thrillers, as well as hosting regular music and comedy nights that will have you dancing and rolling in the aisles. Whatever your tastes, in both theatre and food, you will be sure to find something to whet your appetite here at The Mill.

Always love catching the latest play at The Mill

Finally visited after being intrigued by the concept of a "dinner theatre". As demonstrated by the manager's response to a recent low-scoring review, the venue clearly has a dedicated following of satisfied customers that they cater well for. It's worth being prepared for that if you visit, especially if you're from the younger generation. The venue itself is lovely and... More

been here with friends a few times. The refurbishment in the bar area downstairs looks like a building site with dust sheets up. The men's toilets had no lights, bought this to the attention of Dave the manager. The choice of food has been reduced, the waiting staff seemed to be disorientated, not the usual great service. The chefs that... More

It’s all a matter of taste. Please see above evidence of how beautiful the new bar area is, including photos of the new gents loo with more than adequate lighting. Common consensus disagrees with your verdict as most customers love the new look. Sorry you don’t. Most people prefer today’s food - which incidentally costs us more to produce as... More

This is a dinner theatre in a beautiful location with friendly efficient staff. We came for a lunch time/matinee and enjoyed everything. My meal of steak and stout pie followed by Eton mess was excellent. There are four main courses and four desserts to choose from and I think the menu changes as the performance changes. The dining room is... More

I love this place. You get a good meal in an attractive restaurant, followed by a show in the tiny theatre. The setting is lovely, situated as it is on the Thames at Sonning, and it was the last working mill on the Thames before it was converted to a dinner theatre. There are shows to suit every taste: sometimes... More

This is my third visit to this very pretty area - River Thames right next to The Mill. Enjoyed a buffet main meal and then served the dessert and drinks by extremely lovely members of staff - all helpful and smiley! Then it was time to enjoy the play, "Boeing Boeing" - hilarious farce in a very small theatre. Love... More

We visited the Mill last week as part of a group of 12 from the hotel barge, the African Queen. I didn't know what to expect, but I was so impressed by the environment, organisation and food. Not forgetting the farce 'Boeing,Boeing which was exceptional. The theatre was small, comfortable and th seating wraps around the stage area. It gives... More

We went on Sunday night for a concert and saw "The Three Degrees". They were very very entertaining and great fun. The venue is rather small; no more than 150 that night. Other than Sunday's they have plays running the other nights. The food is a buffet carvery with quite good food. And then you are served your drinks and... More
