This was my second visit to the gardens. There is just so much to see and you could easily spend a whole day here. Suitable for families and adults. There are walks available around the vast grounds as well as the Castle to explore with magnificent views everywhere. The new conservatory has plenty of things to see and information available... The restoration of the gardens at this historic centre has proved to be a mammoth task that has been pulled off with huge success. Now crowned with the recently opened award winning Victorian Conservatory which has been restored, using local firms, to its resplendent original glory. Visit it tomorrow - you won't be disappointed

This was a really interesting visit. The main property is now an adult education college so there are only the gardens to visit. As the garden is mainly shrubs such as rhododendrons, azaleas, etc it will clearly be at its best in May or early June when we hope to make a return visit. nevertheless, there was still plenty to... Thank you for reviewing Wentworth Castle Gardens and hope you enjoy a return visit when we are at our most colourful between April and June. The deerpark is a lovely walk too, with interesting 18th century monuments to discover on the way. More

Wentworth Castle is in a beautiful location close to the M1, between Sheffield and Barnsley, and has wonderful landscaped gardens.

Visited on a somewhat Grey day in March- the place is well signposted from the M1. A short drive up a narrow road and you are there- there is ample parking. It says a token is needed to exit the car park but we didn't need one. Unfortunately the children's play area wasn't open I imagine due to the time... More

Spent two hours wandering around these fabulous gardens, admiring the follies and gorgeous views. At this time of year, it felt like they were my own secret gardens! Interesting history and lots of information at each feature. Nice tea room too!

What a lovely place. A nice surprise was a pot of tea for £1.50. Admission for adults was 6.50 but it's English heritage & there was an annual pass option. The gardens are stunning and there are plenty of places to sit & enjoy them. I recommend walking up to 'the Earls seat' & resting for a bit there, the... More

We so pleased you have discovered this secret corner of Barnsley and hope you can visit again soon. Just a small note - we are not an English Heritage site, we are an independent heritage trust. We do offer a discount to RHS members though. More

I feel like Kevin McCloud returning to one of his Grand Designs. Another return trip... the Conservatory is now quite splendid- a Victorian cast-iron structure once in ruins, beautifully and thoroughly restored. Beautiful array of plants, even in winter, arranged by world location. Interesting exhibition spaces on the approach to the main area. In all, a pleasure to visit- some... More

Lovely to hear a repeat review and so glad you enjoyed the conservatory. We like serving "Yorkshire portions" in the cafe - hopefully hits the spot after a bracing February walk around the Gardens! More
