Although i have lived nearby for many years I had not taken the time to really explore and appreciate the wonderful buildings, follies, gardens and parkland of Wentworth until this year. The venue is a credit to all who work there, everything done with quality in mind. You do really feel as though you are miles away from any town.... More

On a sunny albeit cold Saturday morning in November, we decided to have a ride and ended up at Wentworth Castle Gardens near Barnsley. The car park was free with a garden admission ticket (£6.95) and our visit was incredibly enjoyable. Fred, one of the volunteers, walked with us towards the Victorian Conservatory, telling us all about the early history... More

Wentworth castle gardens surprised me witht the quality of the gardens. The architecture of the house reminds me of Chatsworth, the gardens have been restored and ar egetting better with each year. I love the folly castle, it brought out the excited little boy in me! I would recommend visiting in the spring when the rhododendron are at their best.

Nice gardens and grounds there is an admission fee which is rather expensive Don't assume that wentworth house the former residence of the fitwilliams is located here as it a fair distance away. The renovated greenhouse and the grounds are lovely in the summer worth seeing. The high admission charge stops me personally from returning.

An enjoyable November afternoon outing, despite a little intermittent drizzle, was when we visited part of the garden - we will certainly allow more time on our next visit to see more. My grandchildren aged 2,6 & 10 had an awesome adventure, scuffed leaves, saw deer and squirrels, the eldest read the interest boards (out loud) and plenty of running... More

Terrific views on the Parkland Trail. Great walk in peaceful settings away from the traffic. Wild deer roaming as well as plenty of game birds. Did this walk in autumn but can imagine it will be beautiful throughout all the seasons.

The location is lovely and there is lots to look at. The gardens, Victorian greenhouse and the folly are all worth seeing. The only fault I have is that it is a little expensive.

This is my favourite garden centre to come too, especially at Christmas and with so much to do you cant go wrong. The cafe/restaurant is brilliant, the cakes are delicious and wash down nicely with a caramel flavoured latte.

We took advantage of a Living Social offer and wow was this a good deal. The history behind the Castle and Gardens is very interesting and the efforts in bringing the conservatory back to its former glory is very impressive. We visited on a glorious blue sky Autumn day and we had a great time. The grounds are worth an... More

Visited on an autumnal day. The scenery is fabulous and it was so relaxing walking around the gardens. The castle was also open so we climbed the 83 steps to look at the fabulous views. We did plenty of walking and set off to do the 4 mile parkland walk to see the deer but decided to take a short... More
