Went here today as haven't been for quite some time. Very hot day and the market was very busy. Great atmosphere and all sorts of wares on offer from the stalls in both the inside and outside markets, anything from fruit and veg to fabrics pictures, luggage and clothing, plus there is the array of high st. shops to wander... I used to like to visit my local markets here in Manchester but over the last few years they are disappearing or greatly reducing in size and variety. Bury market was like a market should be. Lots of stalls with everything from a bathroom salesroom to good old bury black puddings. I particularly liked the meat and fish market and... More

Bury Market has been voted the best in the UK, and for very good reason. There's an amazing choice of products on offer, from embroidery services, shoes, clothes, meat, fish, veg, books, bread - the list goes on and on. Stall holders in general are exceptionally friendly and seem to treat each customer as a friend. Nothing seems to be... More

The Bury Meat and Fish Market is extremely busy (we went on a Saturday in Summer) and mixes older-fashioned flea market stalls with functional units selling clothes, cakes, etc. The heart of the shopping experience is the covered area with dozen or so really traditional style sellers shouting out spot price bargains, specials of the day. All the trays of... More

I'm not a great shopper - which man is? - but I enjoyed exploring this market as it reminded me of the way markets used to be. Mixture of stalls, shops and precinct sales with a huge mixture of different types of goods available. I was able to pop into a local Witherspoons while my other half shopped.

Being retired we have been able to visit and shop at many markets in the north of England , and we can safely say that Bury market is the very best one. It has a fabulous meat and fish market and a huge open air section with scores of stalls that are very competitive price wise. Its all flat and... More

People visit Bury Market from all over the country. It has been voted the Best Market In Britain -and it's not hard to see why... The Open Market, though, only opens on a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, so I would definitely visit on one of these days. Parking is easy just across the road, so there is no hassle getting... More
