Climbing the hill then climbing to the top of the tower some folk claim this as an achievement. The Tower opens it's doors once per month with a small charge to climb to the top for spectacular views. Abseiling down the side of the tower for charity, kite-flying on the tower hill, walking to Pilgrims cross (google it), picking the... More

Over the years we have been up Holcombe hill to walk around Peel Tower, it was erected to commemorate Sir Robert Peel the British Prime Minister. The views are fantastic. As a youth we used to go on annual holiday to relatives in the nearby village of Summerseat, my great aunt used to tell us a story of someone who... More

Seen from almost all of Lancashire, the climb up is worth it just for the views! There is a shorter route from the car park on the Stubbins Road, but that's for wimps!

Peel Tower sits on top of Holcombe Hill or Harcles Hill, it was constructed in 1851 and opened to the general public in 1852. It sits next to Holcombe Village which in itself is most beautiful. If the Tower is ever flying a flag it means you can gain entry and climb the stairs right to the top for wonderful... More

We were passing today with our dogs having been out in Bury and thought we should just go up to give the dogs a run. I've been up loads of times and it's always been closed so thought it was always closed. But no.... The flag was flying today which means it's open apparently. £2 to get in and a... More

It's a good walk up to the top, and the views are spectacular. There's a car park down the hill, but this gets full really quickly at peak times. You can park most places down the hill though. There are other paths once you get to the top if you want to keep going as well. The tower itself has... More

There's not a lot to see its just a big tower on a hill, but on a good day the scenery is beautiful, have been going up all my life and still enjoy it now, a good walk, if you get chance pop over the the post mans head on your way!

There's a lovely pub at the bottom in the village and a decent hill climb up to the tower, which also has public footpaths to enjoy. You can't go in or up the tower but there are some stunning views of Manchester from there which are great to photograph

A lovely walk up to the tower and fantastic views up there. It does get quite windy though. I have been up here a few times over the years and would recommend it to anyone.

the hill you have to climb to reach peel tower is gruelling but the view from the top is so awesome it is well worth the effort.
