Excellent for people who enjoy a good walk, especially with dogs. The pathways are not really suited to people with acessibility needs especially wheelchairs. The hill is quite steep, wear decent footwear. You can do a full circle, if you set off from the Shoulder of Mutton go Anti-Clockwise. The Tower itself is only open at certain times. For opening... A good ramble over the Holcombe moors and a bracing climb to the top is well worth the views around Holcombe, Helmshore, Ramsbottom, Bury surrounded by beautiful Lancashire countryside. You can also see all the way to Manchester - not sure that's a good thing though :)

Sadly the tower isn't always open but still a fab place to view the whole of Greater Manchester, you can see fab views of the city especially the Beetham Tower and Coop insurance tower. A good stretch of the legs also 😊

Having lived near Boradway tower in Worcestershire I was expecting this to be a little more developed. Don't get me wrong the views are incredible and it lovely on the top of the hill but the monument itself is being left. There a big rusty door with a hole in that has rubbish Piling up inside. When we went the... More

Large tower overlooking Ramsbottom and surrounding area. Quite steep on the way up but you can always stop at the shoulder of mutton for a wee pint if your tired! The towers itself is often open so you can climb to the top

Good local attraction. Inexpensive, child friendly, well, worth a visit. Decent pubs nearby for a drink or lunch, especially the brook.

The walk to the Tower from Ramsbottom Town centre is more than it first seems. The view on most days is breathtaking and inspires your northern pride... There are many routes to the top, some through wooded hills and others pass many inviting pubs... its a walk for anyone fit enough to stand... the ascent from the pub at the... More

I'm not as young as I used to be but I was tempted into this walk/climb by my daughter. Although hard work it is worth the effort with the views. Their is a full 360 panorama of the Pennines and the local mill towns. Well worth the effort and there is a pub at the bottom so you can imbibe... More

Walked up here with my 4 year old twins who just about made it from the car park although I did have to bribe them with the promise of a picnic at the top! Great views and lovely walk
