Years since I last went and was not expecting much from a small town Museum but was thrilled with the changes and had a great time. The new management and investment has made a huge difference. It feels airy and light and the Gold from the time of Stonehenge gallery is incredible. They have activities for children including dressing up... More

Excellent visit. Although smallish for a museum, this was more than made up for by decent layout. We enjoyed our visit - our first in spite of living in the area for over 30 years.

What a great museum. I cannot urge people enough to support this wonderful place. Obviously there is a focus on Wiltshire's renowned pre-history (Stonehenge etc) but other parts look at more recent history of Devizes and the area in general, such as its WW1 history and its mercantile rise and fall, and are equally fascinating. We don't have children but... More

I was visiting from the states doing family history and meet one of your volunteers on the bus. She was so helpful and really made my day. Her name was Sue. She was so knowledgeable about your city and the history of your area. She is an asset to your museum.

Thank you for your generous comments. You are right - Sue is fantastic and like all our volunteers is very helpful to our visitors and researchers. It is a pleasure to be able to pass your comments on to her. More

I hadn't visited this museum for over six years and was utterly amazed at the transformation. What wonderful stuff - just loved the Roman section in particular but all of it is great. If you're in Devizes don't miss the opportunity to be impressed!

Housed in a lovely old building, containing a wealth of finds and information from the surrounding area, this is well worth a visit. Children go free and if you are an English Heritage member you get 2 for the price of 1 entry.

The new galleries have really improved the experience with varied collections on view. It was like being in a different museum. Each section had very good interpretations. Lots to see and the children enjoyed everything too. Quite a lot of emphasis on earlier time periods especially Neolithic/Bronze/Iron. Well worth a visit. Perfect for a visit after visiting Stonehenge perhaps!. There... More

We visited the museum especially to see the Stonehenge exhibits after seeing the BBC programme. Wonderful artefacts on show.

Just brilliant, I had not been in the museum for some time and popped in recently to see the 'Gold Frome Stonehenge' exhibits. I am stunned, what a fantastic display. A must visit for anyone visiting Stonehenge or Avebury and the museum is situated in lovely Devizes too which is a bonus!
