We visited the museum especially to see the Stonehenge exhibits after seeing the BBC programme. Wonderful artefacts on show.

Just brilliant, I had not been in the museum for some time and popped in recently to see the 'Gold Frome Stonehenge' exhibits. I am stunned, what a fantastic display. A must visit for anyone visiting Stonehenge or Avebury and the museum is situated in lovely Devizes too which is a bonus!

I live local and popped in here with my son (13yo) as he is learning about WW1 in his school history class at the moment and they currently have a display covering WW1 and its effect on local people, with fantastic exhibits, beautifully presented and very informative. But that is the standard throughout the whole museum, right from the Stone... More

Staff here are engaging and extremely helpful. The collection within the museum is well displayed and information regarding the collection is interesting and precise. The staff within the library are amazing! The small admission charge is worth every penny. I would highly recommend this Museum.

The prehistoric gallery at the Wiltshire museum has only just recently opened and it is truly outstanding. It is state of the art in the sense that the exhibits are arranged in a way which truly 'tells a story'. If you have been to Stonehenge and the other ancient monuments in Wessex and want to find out what life might... More

For anyone interested in pre-history and the archaeology around the Stonehenge/Devizes area, this is a "must visit". Absolutely packed with wonderful exhibits, we spent over 4 hours in just the 4 pre-history galleries. Everything is well displayed and well explained and a real joy to see. Had a quick peek at the other areas which were also interesting. The small... More

What a great museum. I have driven past on a number of occasions but eventually stopped. I should have done so years ago. A brilliant museum with an outstanding new display of the gold artefacts and Stonehenge. The staff are brilliant, very knowledgeable and willing to help. I was researching my village history and the staff could not have been... More

The museum in Devizes offers an excellent insight into the local history of the surrounding area. For a small town, this museum is exceptional, putting on special displays from time to time focusing on different aspects of local history. The area is rich in ancient stone circles, burial mounds, Roman remains which are shown and explained in a way that... More

I visited this small but well stocked museum on a recent stay in the Devizes area with friends who live there. The museum was bigger than it appeared and was very well laid out in chronological order with all the exhibits very clearly annotated. This gave detailed information on the archaeology of the area, highlighting areas of specific interest. While... More
