We visited this museum to see the gold finds from Stonehenge. These in themselves were fascinating, but the Museum was a mine of info about the local area - we learned more about pre-history and the context of Stonehenge than we did from the Stonehenge Visitor Centre Exhibition itself. Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to study the later displays... More

We have been meaning to visit the museum for some time, having moved into the area a few years ago. We were not in the least disappointed. Its easy to find and the folk on the reception desk were just a delight. There are a number of different rooms taking you from very early period of Wiltshire up to present... More

And tremendous fun. Very interactive, with some fantastic reconstructions and costume chests in most rooms (!!!). The new prehistory galleries are a highlight - fascinating objects and portrayals of prehistoric Wiltshire, well-presented, beautifully illustrated and easy to understand. Staff is friendly and helpful, and the shop has a great selection.

This looks so small from the outside but is really quite big, so many interesting objects, mostly found in the local area from archaeology digs etc. Lots on Devizes and surrounding area through the ages as well which is really interesting

I had no idea what to expect when deciding to visit the museum. What an incredible Neolithic and Bronze Age collection! Stonehenge actually borrows items from this museums collection to display within their museum! Along with these collections, the museum has information about Romans and some of the social history around Devizes - these are also very well displayed and... More

This museum contains exciting exhibits that explain the Stonehenge site and is influential to understanding Stonehenge is a social context. Must visit! It'd be nice if the coaches traveled here after Stonehenge.

The newly renovated displays of Neolithic and Bronze Age treasures from Wiltshire's chalk plains are worth the trip to this excellent regional museum. The galleries present Wiltshire's rich prehistoric heritage in context. A must see for those interested in the ritual context of Stonehenge and Avebury.

The new galleries on the prehistory of Wiltshire are so well designed- and even this time I found somerthing new to marvel at- beautiful beakers!and also was able to spend time looking at the Shaman display and all the associated material- of course I have seen the goldwork before - but the Bush Barrow display tells one more about the... Great museum with a fantastic collection! Situated in three converted historic buildings this museum contains a significant amount of the best Bronze Age artefacts in Britain. Take a look if you are going to Stonehenge or Avesbury as your visit will not be complete without it! You will not be disappointed.

If you wanna get a general picture about the how was the life in the times of Stonehenge people, you should go first to the museum. And don't miss the books in the museum's shop!
