Water is cold. Too many stones on part of the beach. Is beautiful to look at, walk on, but not so good for bathing.

Arrived in San Juan del Sur via cruise ship and only spent a couple hours in town. The beach, on the bay, appeared to be clean with little surf while I was there. There are a number restaurants and cantina beach side. During the ship visit, there were vendors under tent with limited "tourist stuff" selections. The local chamber of... More

This beach is just ok- nothing special. The better beaches are outside of San Juan but you have to pay for transport to get you there. Check with dive shops and some of the larger hostels for transport times. Prices seem to be the same across the board. Sometimes the tide is so high on this beach that there is... More

Was there during a mid week slow period obviously, but meets all expectations of a lovely small bay dotted with working boats and classic scenery surrounding, including a peaceful sleepy village, which is unusually clean. Beach is spacious in all directions, and there are no stones to stumble over anywhere. Very safe environment with well constructed stairways descending from wide... More

Clean with great sand, small waves because it is located in a bay. The restaurants around there are pricey but nice. Downside is not a lot of shade available.

It's quite a nice beach but not outstanding. It's alright for swimming but for surfing you'd be better off going to Hermosa or one of the other nearby beaches!

This place is amazing at sun down, no more direct sunlight (no places for shade) and the sunset is just incredible. have a drink at one of the restaurants and enjoy!

We like this beach because it is quiet. It is a safe beach to swim as well. Several of the restaurants have tables and chairs right in the sand.

The beach is beautiful with cliffs on the north and south sides, many boats in the water, including a huge cruise ship while I was there, an opportunity to walk along the cliff's edge to explore more remote corners of the beach and refreshingly cool water!

You may want to stay in San Juan del Sur for the nightlife, restaurant and shops, but the beach is really not that nice. It's a bit dirty (the water, not the beach) and crowded with boats. Hop a ride in the back of a jeep for trip to Majaguel. Actually, don't, because I don't want you there. Leave it... More
