While the bay is beautiful, the water is not the cleanest, with a fair amount of debris in it. It was very windy when we were there, which was great for keeping down the heat, but it whipped up the sand at times, which made walking not as pleasant as I am sure it can be, for it is a... More

I wouldn't go there for the beach experience, as there are so many better choices in this area. However, there are eateries all along the bay. At night, there are local artists selling their talents (fire juggling, etc.) and their products. It makes an interesting place to visit. Also, parents can watch kids play on the beach while they eat... More

If you are staying in town it is very pleasant to walk the beach in the morning and in the afternoon close to sunset. I have also logged my miles running back an forth from one end to the other. I would not swim here, unfortunately the bay is pretty but polluted. There are plenty of cafes and restaurants that... More

The beach right in town is very big so you aren't on top of one another. Clean beach and easily accessible with lots of restaurant choices lining the edge.

I'd say it should be one of your first destinations when you get into San Juan del Sur. Walk up to one of the bars/restaurants and grab a cerveza and continue walking the beach.

This beach is great for runners, and generally is very pleasant to walk on. Problem is that it lacks shade, so you can't really lay there for too long without boiling. Also, the South part of the beach is clean but the Northern part tends to be much dirtier. The best thing about it is the sunsets which are simply... More

Great beach to have and look at the sunset, but there are much better beaches close to San Juan that you should visit. Not so good for swimming or sunbathing.

The beach in town is a great spot to sit, drink a cold beer, and watch the tiny little waves on the beach of this sheltered bay, but since this review is for the beach, would definitely not recommend that you head there to surf or swim. The beach is very scenic, but is a bit dirty and not really... More

The sand on the beach we found quite hard and it was very windy and difficult to access from where we were staying. The surf also was disappointing.

The beach is big and great for a walk, but the wind picks up the fine sand and you're covered within minutes of laying down. Try a lounge chair in front of one of the restaurants. The water is cold!
