A quaint beach just down the road from Casa Maderas. Surfing, boogie boards are available. My husband and I had our first surfing lesson with Alfredo who helped prepare us for our first adventure on a surfboard. There is a great cafe that serves the best fish tacos ever!!! More

I spent 2 days one night in this beautiful beach town, the bay along the restaurants are fantastic and you cannot miss to have dinner at least once. During the day I stayed at the beach, walked, did some streetside shopping and visit the Azul-Spa. The people is very warm, with the laid-back style it is a pretty place to... More

The beach of San Juan del Sur is a very beautiful bay surrounded by cliffs. It's a little bit rocky at one end, but it's mostly sand. Even though I think it's really beautiful & the waves are gentle enough to allow swimming, the beach lacks life, maybe it's because it's soo big it looks empty? There is a lot... More

SJDS is a nice beach town that is starting to feel a little more like a city. During the day and early evening its pretty calm and laid back: lots of restaurants, small convenience/grocery stores, surfboard rentals, streetside shopping stalls/tables - and rolling waves. However, some nights it gets a little raucous with the young local men and the surfers... More

My husband and I first visited San Juan del Sur in January of 2005 and fell in love with this area. Only a two hour drive from the airport at Managua, San Juan del Sur offers incredible value for sun and fun in the winter. This is a historic fishing village that had its hayday during the California gold rush... More

San Juan del Sur maybe Nicaragua's most popular beach destination, but it hasn't been spoiled by over building! There are very few buildings over a couple of stories high and it still retains a sense of community among the locals. The sea and beach are clean and unpolluted, as a result I got stung by a Manta Ray! While it... More

For the best view of the town and beach head for the bar at Pelican Eyes. Or better yet take the trip to Jesus. From this vantage point you can see all the way down the coast to Costa Rica. The beach itself is mildly interesting. Lots of eating and drinking places. The beaches north and south of the town... More
