"Remember the man that yelled at Mommy?" is how my six-year-old remembers our last trip to Promised Land. A ranger was compelled to yell at us from about 75' away for a mis-understanding. My wife was mortified. We had reservations for the week of July 4th but got a reservation for Otter Lake instead. The park is beautiful and well... More

we camped in the Pines campground with friends and it was perfect. We stayed on sites 27 and 28 so we had a whole area to ourselves away from the main camping area, yet close enough to the restrooms. The sites were a great size, with enough privacy and space to really enjoy a great sunny day. We also were... More

We were in site 173 on Pickerel Point. Usually we tent camp but we have recently acquired an R-Pod so we had to have an RV site. The site was still great. Could see the lake out our back window and could walk down to the water easily. Brought along the dog and he enjoyed seeing the people/kids/dogs moving around... More

We stayed at a walk-in campsite (123) on Pickerel Point. It was a great location, right on the lake, and we rented a canoe overnight and kept it at our site. It was great to go out on the lake early in the morning. The campsites are a little close together in spots, but we lucked out with some space... More

Nice lake for swimming with sandy beach, picnic tables, bathrooms, and free(no charge). Campgrounds nearby also. Swimming area is a good size and only about 4 -5 feet deep in the deepest area. Some areas in the lake are rocky so water shoes are a good idea just in case.

Been here in the past, but over the 4th of July there were a lot of rude people from out of state and aggressive dogs everywhere. The one dog (think it was a pitbull) not only attacked other dogs (multiple campers), but also attacked a child on the last day. The rangers came, wrote up the incident, and since the... More

We stayed for one night (we live very close) and had a very nice time. We were in plot 169 on pickerel point, which was nice and right on the water, though we do wish it had been a bit more private and that there was a better view of the water (ferns and shrubbery were pretty high) but it... More

This is a well-kept, well-staffed, beautiful park with forest, waterfalls, and a large lake. The camp sites are good-sized and reasonably spaced. The bathrooms are modern, comfortable and clean. Showers are free. The price per night is much cheaper than other campgrounds. The most desirable camp sites are on Pickerel Point--a peninsula that extends out into the lake. The walk-in... More

We were really disappointed all around by the visit to this state park. We are avid campers and state park enthusiasts but PA has a lot to learn. The sites were level but crammed together, the bathhouse wasn't cleaned the entire three days we were camping, and there were only three fresh water sources in the whole lower campground. Not...
