Second visit after several years. The renovation is beautiful. A must go just to enjoy the architecture. It is handicap accessable. It is bright and spotless. The staff is friendly and helpful. It is supervised kid friendly. There is a great one of a kind gift shop a bit expensive but worth getting something remarkable. Not enough bathrooms for large... More

The Michener is one of the best small museums around. It is near the center of the city and occupies part of the old county jail, but has been moderized and expanded. There are examples of great art work, much done by PA artists--PA Impressionists, wood working by Nachashima and Esherick, among others. Presently there are exhibits from Uzzi Gallery... More

The artwork in the galleries has many local artists. The museum began as a prison. I don't remember when. Now I have to look it up :) I called ahead to make sure there was no special event being held. I like to have a little privacy when I view artwork.

We are so fortunate to have this world class museum of this quality in Bucks County. It's worth checking out the art of the artists that made this area known for Bucks County Impressionism, and more.....

Great collection of art by the "New Hope impressionists", and some good temporary exhibits I've been fortunate to see. A really LOVELY small museum in a small town with a LOT to offer -

"Offering of the Angels" is a fantastic opportunity to view Renaissance artist works, like Botticelli, and it's right in Doylestown, PA until August 2012. The Uffizi Gallery from Florence, Italy is readily accessible to those of us who are unlikely to be able to travel to see these amazing paintings depicting the history of Christ. The James A. Michener Art... More
