The Montour Trail is testimony to dedicated local residents. They have put their ideas, physical labor and money into seeing this project a reality. Excellent place for the entire family. You will see babes in arms and in strollers. You will see Seniors out for a walk, bikes, and runners.

I get on at the Brush Run entrance, one way takes you towards Logan road which is all limestone and ends at logan road, good portion of trail though because heavily populated and many houses along the way, I feel safer when I am alone, I hit Logan at the end, then end back to car at Brush Run and... I like most sections of the trail. Once the bridge across Valley Brook is done, I will use that stretch more as the road crossing is dangerous there. Bridge near the golf course around mile 28 is very nice.

I spend a lot of time hiking on this trail, which stretches for 60+ miles. If you can only hike on one area (there are a number of ingress/egress points for the trail), be sure to walk the viaduct in McDonald, PA.

We love this trail. It goes on & on for miles. You can walk it or run it since it is mostly level unlike Pittsburgh. It is mostly tree-lined. There are houses along part of it which can make for some interesting viewing.

Wife and I have walked and rode with our sins for over 20 years. This is the best time of year to take a ride on the trail.

All I can say is that this is one of the best rails to trails projects I have ever experienced. It is a joy to discover all this trail system has to offer. It is responsible for returning me to my bicycling roots. thank you!

Born and raised in the south hills of Pittsburgh. The Montour Trail, Peters Trail and all of the trails in Pittsburgh are among the best things to happen to the region in my lifetime. I have ridden every trail and they are all mostly level, well maintained and very scenic. Two years ago my son and I rode from downtown... More

I love going to the montour trail. Very peaceful, will occasionally see deer right on the trail. The only problem is if it rains the trail may be muddy. It's great for walking the dog or going for a run. Also a lot of convenient places to park and access the trail.
