This attraction is around the corner from where I live. When you first enter the grounds you see a cemetery. I call it Habit cemetery because all the headstones are in the shape of the habit the sisters wore. If you look in the right corner there is a Memorial to Msgr. Joseph Stephan. He was the director of the... More

Your visit starts with a drive on the grounds of the Motherhouse of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament. As you approach the shrine, look around at the beautiful trees, hanging baskets of flowers, the century old garden cross, stone arches and layers of rooftops capped with crosses. The landscape and architecture sets the tone of your pilgrimage visit. There... More

This is a peaceful holy pilgrimage site. You can sit in the shrine room where the remains of St. Katharine are kept. It has very beautiful energy. There is also a room nearby with St. Katharine's belongings and photos documenting her life and mission. This is an active church and convent so please enter with respect and reverence.

Very inspiring, a lot of history, I did not dislike anything about this place. They could have a small restaurant which would be nice for travelers.

WOW !! What a beautiful old church with the unique 'in choir' sides and the set up for celebrating the Mass. The actual Shrine and St. Katharine's tomb are located in the lower church under the main church. A great place to pray and meditate. They have a very nice gift shop. A definite stop for Catholics to see and... More

Every so often I like to take advantage of visiting and make a day pilgrimage to a local shrine of one our saints. Saint Katharine Drexel Mission Center/Shrine and holy grounds are a tranquil, serene jewel nestled in the hustle-bustle of the city and suburbs. If you want to clear your head, say a prayer or hear a prayer, then... More
