This is a driving tour, so you'll need to have a driver and navigator to do it efficiently. You can pick up a map of the route at the Bedford Visitor's Bureau. I didn't know there were so many styles of covered bridges! Many of these you can still drive through.

This was a great little bike loop. Visited the Bedford Visitors Center and they printed out the map and directions for us. It is 17 miles, and while there are hills, I would recommend doing the 17 mile versus 12 as you do not want to bike on Route 56 and you can always walk up the hills -- I... More

Perhaps b/c I grew up around covered bridges they don't interest me much. Few if any can really used any longer. I see VERY little difference among them & no explanation as to differences (if any exist). Personally I recommend looking at any one and letting rest go.

The covered bridge tour of Bedford county is really well mapped out and a nice way to spend a couple of hours.

We've seen many of the Vermont bridges and found these so much easier to locate. Some could not be driven across but each one was unique. The historic Bedford town was so interesting. Hadn't realized this was the location of the Whiskey Rebellion and the headquarters for President Washington is still there. Also an unusual school, especially for that time.... More

A self-guided tour through some scenic areas of Bedford County. Some of the bridges can be driven over, others are not drivable. On our tour we took a side trip to Gravity Hill (like Spook Hill in Florida) and visited the Coffee Pot near the fair grounds in Bedford. During your drive; look for the 1930s style gas station in... There are 15 covered bridges in the county and 9 in the loop, 7 of which we toured. If you like covered bridges, it is worth the time.

Easy to follow self guided tour. It was nice to go in the winter. Fall would also be a good time to go.

We picked up a Bedford tour book and noted the Covered Bridge tour. We decided to take it. It was easy to follow and directions were excellent. We saw 9 covered bridges in all. Most you can drive through, although a couple were fairly dilapidated and not drivable. One was not even walkable.

Pick up your map at the Bedford Visitor Center or download online, and begin a wonderful adventure. The map allows 100 minutes for the complete loop, but that doesn't factor in getting lost on all the wonderful backwood roads! I would allow a full day, including stops at remote shops and photo ops. The bridges are wonderful, and reminiscent of... More
