We especially like either walking on the beaches (both sandy and rocky) and driving Hwy 101 to see the beaches and mountains. It's always new to come around a corner or over the brow of the hill and see the panoramic view ahead and below. The ocean has its own personality and changes with the weather and the time of... The Yachats coastline is cool and offers so much to see. It has rocky areas with crashing waves and tide pools and also wide sandy beaches north of town,

Yachats unique coast line is awesome for wave action! Our choice today was the south side of the Yachats River where we watched the churning changing currents where the ocean meets the river. We were there as high tide was reached and started to recede. The water action is fascinating. It's also a dangerous place for "beach walkers" who need... More

Yachats is a pretty little village with a picturesque rocky coastline. Several shops and restaurants and a sandy beach. The sea lion caves are not far away and there are a number of small beaches along the way. This would be travelling south.

There is a walking path along the ocean where you can walk into town with lots of benches along the way so you can sit and enjoy the fabulous views. It is rocky with large surf and crashing waves.

Enter the beach from any number of public access points and walk on silky sand for miles - literally. What more could you ask of a coastline. Thank you State of Oregon for this very special treat. Other points of access lead you to a rugged coastline of volcanic rocks with dramatic, crashing waves.
