We decided to end our southern Oregon/Applegate Valley weekend by stopping at Willamette Valley Vineyards on the way back to Portland. Seen it a million times driving by, but why didn't we ever stop before? The view from the tasting room is incredible, the wines are fabulous, and we stumbled upon a five-star meal of blackened salmon, bacon-cheddar-duck confit fries... More

There are more than 200 wineries in the Willamette Valley region, and I spent a delightful afternoon tasting (and purchasing) wines at one of them - the Willamette Valley Vineyards. The commanding views from the hilltop tasting room are excellent, but scenery alone does not recommend a winery. Samples of the Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, and other wines will reward... More

I take all my out-of-town visitors here, conveniently located right off I-5. With hundreds of wineries in Oregon, Willamette Valley Vineyards is noteworthy as one of the large ones, which has won its share of awards. Breathtaking views out over the valley (though one does have to look beyond the interstate far below.)

We stopped on a lark as we were driving up I-5. It was a fun stop. Although tasting is not free, there are several tasting groups to select from, starting at $5 for the "red and white." The server was very helpful, knowledgeable about the wine, and gave us samples of wines she thought we would like even though they... More

OK, so why only three stars? To me, having traveled around and spent many days in different wineries and tasting rooms to the point that I feel well Seasoned, it was a little commercial in the tasting room for me. However, DO NOT LET THAT DISCOURAGE YOU! We went to Willamette Valley with friends on a weekend trip. There was... More

Even when the tasting room hours were advertised in visitor brochures, we found that most wineries require appointments! That makes you feel obligated to purchase and we gave up.

Travelers going up and done I-5 should take a minute to stop in at this lovely winery. They are a co-op and are employee owned and it shows. The staff is helpful and well informed and the wines are very good. I especially enjoy their Griffin Creek wines that are made from fruit from the Southern part of the state.... More

The tasting room sits hight on the hill overlooking their vinyards. The view is worth the short drive off I-5, but don't miss their great wines.

My parents live across the road from Willamette Valley Vineyards, so every time I visit home, I make it a point to soak in the view from the tasting room. I love the view, the staff and most importantly, the wine! They have a fabulous Pinot Noir that I buy whenever I see it on a dinner menu. Just a... More

I have driven past this winery several times and have wanted to stop. While my in-laws were visiting last week from Michigan I finally got the chance to try this winery. First of all, the location was beautiful. The tasting room was set atop a hill overlooking the vineyards with a great view of the Willamette Valley. The staff in... More
