Small waterfall

It is a beautiful place! You will only have to walk a very short distance and the trail is paved. Parking is limited but people are usually there for a short period of time.

This is the second waterfall after Latourell Falls and the fourth stop on the Scenic Highway. Blink and you'll miss it. There is a tiny parking lot just after the Shepperd's Dell sign. The waterfall drops in multiple tiers, but only the lower section (61 ft.) is really visible from the bridge. The upper portions of the waterfall are hidden... More

Stop, park, get out of your car. This place is gorgeous and you don't have to walk far up the trail to see the beauty of the place.

This little secluded fall area is easy to drive right by, but a very satisfying stop, so keep on the lookout. There is a little bit of off-road parking just beyond the sign post at the end of the bridge and then a short, curving, paved trail slopes down and around to the tumbling stream falls hiding in the trees.... This is a cool waterfall and hardly anyone stops to see it because it's tucked back off the roadway view. There's a short paved trail that leads you close up to the falls. Stop #3 on the scenic highway falls tour.

It was also spray. It had a mountain that looked like an Elephant's head. It was sheep to a Shepped's Dell!

I stopped in the little roadside pull off and walked back to the bridge to take the very short trail to photograph this waterfalls. I liked the falls, but the photography and viewing options are limited and the pull-off is not terribly large, nor do I remember a sign for it.

After doing the 2.4 miles loop at Latourell Falls, I was tired and wanted to do something low-key and this was perfect and only a 1.2-mile drive from Latourell. This waterfall gets so few visitors that it does not even have a parking lot. One can view the waterfall from the bridge or one can take a two minute hike... More

At sheppards dell you can hike out to view "bridal Viel" falls, which is gorgeous and hourglass shaped, It is so serene and calm at the falls itself, which is a nice change from the other busier falls in the gorge. If you want to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the other falls, come here enjoy... More

Shepperd's Dell is another scenic waterfall on the western end of the Columbia River Gorge, located in Shepperd's Dell State Natural Area. It's one of the lesser known falls in the gorge, but its very easy to access and worth a quick stop. The waterfall is named for George Shepperd, a farmer in the early 20th century who donated land...
