Don't miss the mountain road from Government Camp up to Timberline Lodge right below Mt. Hood! The scenery is gorgeous! We were lucky enough to make the drive on a perfect August day, and wore shorts and t-shirts which seemed a little odd as we shared the parking lot with lots of snow-boarders and skiers. Yes, there was plenty of... More

Only a drive by visit. The weather turned rainy, very cold & super foggy within 15 minutes of being on the mountain. We will go back another time for more pictures. Heard the lodge was used to film some of the scenes from the movie The Shining.

This is simply an amazing place. We did not want to leave. Everything was great. The lodge is beautiful and historic and well kept. Swimming in the pool and hot tub at 6000 ft with a view of Mt. Hood is priceless. The staff is friendly and helpful too. The scenery is gorgeous. I can't wait to return and this... More

We did not stay at the Lodge, but took the "long way" to Hood River. A stop at the lodge for a cold beverage and a view is a great way to break up the day. We sat in the sun in the Adirondak chairs on the deck and admired the view in all directions. It is a classic 1940's... More

Loved it all, no complaints at all. My mother climbed the mountain four times in her younger years. My dad climbed it 7 times, I climbed it twice. This was a trip that my mother wanted to make to spend time looking at the mountain and enjoying staying at the lodge that she and Dad had stayed at in days... More

I had read that the Timberline Lodge was a must-see, so I went out of my way to see it on a trip from Hood River to Bend. I wish I hadn't wasted my time. The lodge seemed a bit run down to me (but I didn't see into a guest room). I also got much better views of Mt.... More

This historic building is worth the trip - it is only 6 miles off the main highway, and the view of Mount Hood as you drive up is impressive. But the real treat is exploring this historic building, built during the Depression by the WPA. The staff is friendly and eager to answer questions about the building, and we were... More

Don't miss this fabulous part of history. This is a beautiful, historic ski lodge. There are several restaurant styles to choose from and the views are amazing.

Five of us drove up to Mt. Hood and enjoyed scoping out Timberline Lodge. Wonderful WPA craftsmanship! We had a terrific meal and drinks overlooking breathtaking vistas. Service was efficient and courteous. Recommend!!!! I'm returning for the yummy fondue next time!

Yes, a lovely Depression-Era Lodge. Yes, situated at the base of magnificent Mt Hood. But, no, the room we had was soooooo small, overlooking a wedding reception that went beyond their own 'quiet' time. No, the hallway outside our tiny room smelled of old cooking oil at best. No, we don't like the idea of using ear plugs as the... More
