Now is the best time to visit. The fall colors are all around the lake, and water is so clear and blue. I generally don't like to kayak this lake in the summer, it is a small lake, after you've been around it once, what else? But, in the fall, when the colors are so beautiful, I kayaked once around... I stopped on my way home from Portland to Klamath Falls with plans to rent a rowboat and go on the water. The resort store where you rent was locked at noon on 9-21-15. Several notes were on the door; 1 of them said "staff in cabin area". I walked up to the staff cabin and to Ranger's house knocking... More

The rain and sleet kept us from exploring, so we spent our time looking at the beautiful surroundings from under cover. We are from AZ so no rain gear. Good food and friendly people in the restaurant. Numerous activities available if you have an umbrella or a sunny day.

One views the lake from the grounds of a low cost resort, which causes some pollution that makes the lake not so clear locally. One can see the clarity of the water away from the dock. Row boats are available to rent. There are large springs feeding the lake and its outflow is the river that forms the falls.

Clear Lake is beautiful, but unless there is no wind it's not as clear as it should be in order to see the underwater trees. We still had a fun hour out in a rowboat enjoying the stunning scenery.

The waters are so clear and blue, almost the colour of Gatorade! What an awesome hike around the lake. Peaceful and lovely.

Nothing man has ever dug can match the beauty of this natural volcanic wonder. It's perfect for Polar Plunges, even in the middle of July! The water is painfully cold but unendingly amazing. The hike around the lake is a good one. The only complaint I have is about the highway noise, which is amplified by the acoustics of the... More

We hiked near the lake and on a loop trail near the McKenzie River. There are several overlooks and waterfalls along the trail, and they are lovely to look at. The trail is a bit challenging, with roots, rocks, and stairs, but not difficult except for a couple of fallen trees and a few high steps (stairs). We started hiking... More

We have been going to this lovely lake & campground for 50 years. We rent a rowboat at the lodge, have a burger and fish or just row around the coves. It's beautiful.
