The Carousel was a vision, years ago with woodcarvers in the Salem community. They spent countless hours making horses that cannot be rivaled in the world. Your kids, as well as adults will have many fond memories after riding this carousel.

We have been bringing our granddaughter here since she was old enough to ride. At first she loved to just sit in one of the wagons. Then she progress to a stationary horse and now she LOVES going up and down on the zebra, her favorite. If you come to Salem, you have to stop here. Even for adults. The... More

Mainly, the River Front Park is just lovely. The city has done such a nice job and the only problem is the residents of Salem need to show up and enjoy it.

Hand-painted wooden carousel horses to ride - a delight. It is always fun to listen to the music and watch the kids. Also, to visit the lovely shop which is attached.

We found this carousel in Salem's Riverfront park, we decided to walk over and go for a ride. Tickets are sold in the buildings gift shop, they are $1.50 each. We went during a weekday and there was not a crowd. Before you climb on, watch the Carousel go around to make sure you pick a Carousel horse that is... More

They have a rather strange rule that you MUST dismount your steed and go back in line if you want to ride a second time, and so forth. I understand if they are busy, however, even when you can count the number of riders on one hand they make you do this???

Classic experience -- old fashioned, but well maintained carousel. Kids will love it -- especially the cute but expensive gift shop. I hope this stays open for many generations to come!

The Riverfront Carousel, in Riverfront Park on the banks of the Willamette River, is a great place for children and adults. Volunteers have carefully restored the mounts. There is a nominal fee to ride the carousel. The Gilbert House Children's Museum is within walking distance.
