We were only in Portland for 24 hours so I wanted to do this to actually see the city before we drove back to Seattle, the main city of our vacation. The tram ride is $4 a person and about 4 minutes each way. You can stay and look out from the top landing as long as you would like.... More

Excellent views of Portland, Mt. St. Helens, and Mt. Hood from the exciting aerial tram. It's fascinating to watch it come and go, and pretty exciting to be on it while it swoops and swings over its giant pylon. Once you get to the top there's nothing but a hospital, but there's a viewing platform. A great excuse to ride... More

This was a little off the beaten path, easy to get via the streetcar but not really close to any other place we were visited. We paid our $4 and rode the tram up and yes the view of Portland was nice but not more spectacular than some of the other places went. Also it takes you to a hospital,... More

In hindsight, the most memorable Porland experience (I've been on aerial trams on the Great Wall of China....). A new twist on urban public transit---connecting a university campus at the waterfront to the hilltop. And it's a success---for workers, students and tourists. A sleek bit of engineering---there's a interesting little bump when going over a tower (sweaty palms). Take some... More

It's just $4 round trip. It is a very short ride though, only about two mins each way but beautiful views of the city!

This aerial tram is well worth a visit whilst in Portland. The lower tram station is easily accessible using light rail. You need to purchase a ticket to ride the tram up and back down and it is very reasonably priced. It is free to ride the aerial tram down, if you have already got to the top using some... More

I always take the street car to the Tramway stop, get out but a ticket and take the tramway up to the hospitals and walk around and find spectacular views all over the many facilities. Even have lunch up there sometimes.

The Tram is an amazing experience (when you are taking it for fun and not for an actual medical situation). Save the visit for a sunny day for the clearest pictures. There is a fee if you are going up (unless you have an appointment at the top of the hill) but not coming down. At the bottom there are... More

Incredible views of the city and the mountains beyond. A little out of the centre of the city ( we took the tram and streetcar there) but well worth it. Be warned though that the payment machines only take coins or cards - no notes so at $4 you'll need a pocketful of change.
