If you love getting to and from the airport quickly, cheaply, and dry in the winter, MAX is the way. Of course, it serves more than the airport and downtown Portland; it reaches out to suburbs to the west and east, with a new route to the south opening at the end of summer 2015. But we don't use MAX... More

Lived and been a lot of places with worse systems. Really adore the Max to and from PDX (Airport) so handy. New line that goes from my neighborhood all the way to the suburban town of Wilsonville, super great for commuters. Like any other public transpo, you see a lot of characters.

It ususally gets you to where you want to go on time. Most often the cars are not very clean. There doesn't seem to be many fare checkers.

I traveled from the airport to downtown, the station is directly outside the enterance and easy to get to. The signs within the airport are clearly labeled. There are ticket machines and a security cabin at the platform. I asked the security officer for guidance and he showed me on the map where I needed to get off and explained... More

We love using the MAX when we are in Portland. A quick ride to the airport or Clackamas. The fares are pretty reasonable. We get the 1 day (or book of 5 1 day passes) or the 7 day pass.

I'd heard great things about MAX, but to experience it is divine. I used MAX to get from the airport to downtown Portland, where I connected with the streetcar to get to my hotel. It was a great way to see parts of Portland I probably would not have ordinarily seen if I'd taken a taxi from the airport. As... More

what a delightful surprise when we arrived at our hotel! The front desk staffer pointed out that MAX would drop us off right in front of the downtown basketball arena and for a fraction of the cost of a cab. Clean and roomy, even with a late large crowd because of unforeseen delays MAX was much less hassle. With a... More

The Portland transit system is one of the cleanest and easiest to use systems I have been on in the US. A day pass for the trains and buses is only 5 dollars for the entire day. The routes were easy to understand, the ticket machines accept cash or credit and they worked. The trains were clean, the drivers friendly... More

I should preface this review with the fact that I use public transit in Denver for my daily commute, and typically do so during travel as well. I have also worked on light rail projects from a design stand point. My wife, two babies and I stayed in a hotel near the airport which happened to be steps away from... More

I have never reviewed public transit, but here goes: I grew up in Boston where the T is our public transit, light rail, heavy rail and commuter rail...red, blue, green, orange, and purple lines....huge system where you dont need a car. The MAX surprisingly was very similar, can I get downtown from the airport...yup! Can I get pretty much anywhere... More
