You would be remiss in not visiting Sauvie Island during your Summer or Fall trip to Portland if you have a car at your disposal. When I came here for the first time on a sunny Saturday years ago, I realized right then that I was experiencing something very special. I enjoyed local beer from a truck while sitting at... More

Going to krugers on a Thursday night is so much fun! There is so much to do. A band will be playing, you can buy food or pick some berries. There's also lots for the kids to do. There's a hayride that goes around the farm. There's also a rope swing which is very fun and entertaining for the kids.... More

I will soon be reaching my two year anniversary in Portland and it only occurred to me last week to go to a U-pick at Sauvie Island. My sister was visiting from Panama and we had a bit of time on our hands so I decided to take her. The first farm we encountered was Kruger's. We got down and... More

We've been making this a regular stop during our annual jaunt to Portland. We've been to the better restaurants but his is much different. Farmer Don gets up and talks about the crops and expected picking dates. This year he was almost giving away his corn. Rainfall was plentiful and he' had bumper crops. Thursday nights bring entertainment of the... More

If you want a feel of Portland-esque attractions check out Sauvie Island especially Kruger's Farm. Kruger's has lots of fresh produce as well as jams, syrups, kettle corn and pickled garlic (which I would strongly recommend). Its the first farm on Sauvie so its easy to get to. During the fall they have pumpkin picking and the summer is loaded... More

Great selection, great Ghana baskets and sometimes they even have real metal toys. Their caramel apples are made with tart apples, though.

Locals know, so come on down! Great spot Spring-Summer-Fall for really fresh produce (pick your own or buy from the bins), and other food items. Pumpkins in the Fall, etc. Oh, did I mention GREAT PRICES?
