We arrived around opening time and it was an overcast day, so it was a perfect day to walk. We were able to see every exhibit in three hours. The lion cubs were active and it was nice to see the father lion lying on the rock up high where he could keep an eye on his pride. All the... More

Enjoyable morning spent at the Oregon Zoo. Currently the elephant area is under reconstruction, which looks like it will be fantastic once it opens, but leaves the elephant area lacking at the moment. Many types of animals are available for viewing, although a number of habitats appeared empty. Hard to tell if the animals were in a different area, or... More

For me, the highlight of the Portland Zoo is the Great Northwest exhibit. It offers nice views of animals you might be lucky enough to see if you went into the more remote parts of Oregon. Also, this part is in a fairly natural setting. We arrived shortly after the zoo opened, so the animals were relatively active. The elephant... More

It took just over 2 hours for us to get through the zoo and see all of the exhibits. There is a fair bit of construction around at the moment, looks like it will be great when this is finished. The main down-point for me was that there was only one or two of each animal in the exhibits. They... More

Don't freak out about paying for parking. You don't have to put your ticket back in the car, but you DO have to remember your parking space number when you pay at the machine. $1.60/hr or $4.00 max (except 4/1 - 9/30; then it's a $6.40 max). 2nd Tuesdays of each month are $4.00 admissions. Check their website because there... More

We went here over Labor Day Weekend, Saturday late afternoon when it was a little drizzly out. It was a perfect time! Not too busy at all! The only thing I would say is the late afternoon was not busy but a lot of the animals were asleep by that time of day. This didn't really bother us since it... More

The Oregon Zoo is an easy drive, easy parking (but be aware that you do have to pay for parking), and an easy stroll through the grounds. There is construction going on that will ultimately give the elephants a far nicer enclosure, but it didn't detract from how cute that baby elephant was, or take away from the experience. The... Very well laid out. Beautiful grounds. Very clean. Great variety of animals, petting zoo, train. Entertaining lessons scheduled for kids and summer kids' zoo camp.

We went to the Oregon Zoo in Portland in late August. Fantastic way to spend the day, great attractions, trainer talks and a wide variety of animals, birds and reptiles from all over the world. Great value for $11.50, or $10.00 if you show your Max or transit pass. Even food was reasonable, you could get a hotdog for $2.90.... More

I enjoyed this zoo better than Woodland Park. It was well laid-out and a nice visit. We enjoyed the train ride from the rose garden to the zoo as well.
