Zoos are hit a miss regardless of which one you go to and regardless of how you feel about captives animals, the facts remain that this is often a far safer environment as poaching, ravishes of our natural resources and land become more rampant spite of our valiant efforts. The animals are often far more active during cooler temperatures and... More

Large group (9) with 4 under 10 years. There were a couple of the animals that were out of the viewing cages and several resting. The food is way too much. $3.25 for 20 oz water and sodas, $2 for a small bag of chips and $5 for the thinnest and smallest elephant ear I've ever seen. There was a... More

If you like Zoos, you should love the Oregon Zoo in Portland! Be sure to arrive by the Zoo train from the park to the North. It's cool and kitschy ride that both adults and children will love. Also be prepared to walk a lot... and encounter a few hills. It's not as hilly and San Diego...and not as flat... More

Took the Tri Met Max train to the zoo which was perfect for us as we wanted to stay all day. We had family visiting from California, visiting Oregon for the first time, so this was a must see. They had a great time. Loved seeing the animals, so many keeper talks and animal feedings to see. Elephant Ears and... More

I've been to the zoo here many times and love it! It is so NW with the beautiful trees and walkways leading along paths to great exhibits. Been in the summer, winter, spring and fall and keep going back and bringing visitors because it is so enjoyable. The food served at the various stands and restaurant are even good!

Parking was pretty busy for a weekday. And you have to pay for parking. I did notice the public transportation did stop at the zoo. Reasonable price at $11.50 for adults. It was a nice cool day so many animals were active, especially the bears. The zoo has viewing on all sides of the enclosures so you are able to... More

Great exhibits. the only drawback is there is little shade on a really hot and sunny day. That is not the norm in Portland

This is in my opinion a decent zoo. We spent about 4 hours walking around. Plenty of bathrooms & water fountains, nice zoo keeper talks about the animals, and most displays are well kept and clean. We really enjoyed the ocean area with the animals/fish swimming around us. The penguin exhibit needs some serious help. I would recommend taking snacks... More

It was expensive byuing tickets, 10 dollars per adult persons. The area was very well laid out, and was sectioned after different parts of the world. Would recommend going.

I'm a zoo person. Whenever/wherever I travel, I visit the local zoo. Oregon's impressed me with the PNW area. It is quite cleverly crafted into the existing natural world. It is complete with true forest, a river, bridges, and featured animals from the PNW region. Totally awesome! While navigating the zoo is a little confusing in parts (get a map!),... More
