Relaxed and fun to sit on the grass and listen to music. Get tickets early and take the Max to the venue about 30 min before gates open for general admin.

Obviously these other folks have not been to other zoo's... The staff was extremely rude! The one lady gave us a extremely hard time about taking my sons' service dog into the zoo with him even though we had paper work stating that he was a service dog and was to be left in with him! Does any one else... More

Great displays, beautiful setting. Frequent events. Worth a membership to visit often. Nice variety of animals on display and interactive activities for the kids.

Entrance prices were very reasonable compared to other zoos which is a perk. The zoo was well maintained (even with construction areas for the new enclosures). This zoo was very nice and family friendly and I would go back again. Looking forward to the new elephant enclosure.

We unknowingly chose a rainy day to visit the zoo. But with a nice variety of indoor exhibits it didn't put too much of a damper on our day. The zoo is an easy train ride from the city. It was a cool day so many of the animals were out. There are lots of interactive things for the kids... More

I was hesitant at visiting the Zoo especially after being to San Diego's Aquarium last year but the Portland Zoo is amazing. The variety of animals is huge and they all looked very happy and healthy. You can see and feel the effort put into each area and it shows in the demeanor of the animals. Absolutely worth a visit.... More

I love the nice walkable layout of this zoo, lots of animals to see in nice open enclosures in many cases. Zoo train is a nice novelty and provides great views. I love when the polar bear is out swimming. The new areas are very nice and am looking forward to new space for the elephants though I do miss... More

The zoo is very child friendly with many viewing areas that are designed for kids. I would suggest going early in the morning as the animals were very active at that time. The second Tuesday of the month is also $4 Tuesdays for everyone. The zoo is currently undergoing some renovations for the better. Nothing is amiss, but you encounter... More

The zoo layout is a bit odd, but if you follow the map you can see all of the animals. They had a great variety of animals and knowledgeable volunteers standing at many of the exhibits willing to share information. The cost to get in wasn't as expensive as I had anticipated.
