I love the zoo! I've been going here since i was a kid. Its easy to navigate (I've gotten lost trying to find the elephants at other zoos) and clean. They are making major renovations and expansions like the ROAR thing for the lions and stuff, but most of the animals are still visible. Be sure to see Packy (hes... more

This is a very nice zoo. It is true that there was some construction but I asked questions and they said they were improving the living space for the monkeys and adding lions. This zoo was an easy walk for a day and very pleasant. There is even a really cute baby elephant. This is a great place for families... more

The Oregon Zoo has beautiful, naturalized exhibits. The animals are well cared for and healthy. The zoo has frequent special events with activities for kids and adults. They encourage visitor participation. We loved the Birds of Prey shows and the concerts. We come early in the morning to see the animals at their most active. more

Just took my grandchildren to the Oregon Zoo for the Holloween Weekend and they loved it. So many things for kids to do. The zoo has a limited amount of land, but they make the most of it. They are building a new area for Affican Predators, including Lions, and an enlarged area for the Orangutans. They are planning to... more

I live near Portland and so am quite fortunate to be able to visit the Oregon Zoo often. I am sadened to see some of the negative reviews here and as per usual these comments are based on a lack of knowledge of animal care. The Zoo is undergoing construction in several areas to make new and better habitats so... more

I'm not sure what zoo your negative visitors went to, but it certainly wasn't the Oregon Zoo. I have nothing but admiration for the hard work that the staff does to benifit the animals. It could be that some of your reviewers didn't take the time to talk to the staff or volunteers that were readily available on my visit.... more

An eye opener for me. I have yet to Google if this zoo is one that is a aid to the animals or just a show to the people. For me I found it to be a show off the animals and am not sure if it is one that is deemed an inhuman zoo. There is some areas which... more

We've been to zoos across the country and found this zoo to be about average. When we first got the map at the entrance gate, the grounds appeared to be small and I thought we'd be finished quickly. However, after 3 hours, we still hadn't taken in all the attractions. Similar to what others have posted, a number of the... more

I have been to the Oregon Zoo a couple times now, and I've always been impressed. They have some really fantastic exhibits, but there are many that need improvement. I am pleased to see that they are building a new exhibit for their apes (orangs and chimps), but I was a little sad at their animatronic dinosaur tour. In my... more

I just got back from my first trip to Portland, and I must say, the zoo was one of the biggest disappointments. It appears they are in the process of a lot of improvements, so maybe it will be awesome in a few years. But for right now, I wouldn't recommend it. The habitats seemed small and dirty and the... more
