The zoo is well thought out as far as the layout. There are plenty of shaded walk ways. The staff is friendly and they really take the time to make it enjoyable for younger children. They are currently doing an expansion for the elephants so the train wasn't running. We would like to go back for one of the concerts... More

We just love this zoo. It's a good size with great exhibits. If you plan on going on a busy day, I recommend parking at a MAX lot and taking it to the Zoo. It's so convenient!

I spent the morning in Washington Park and decided at the last minute to go ahead and visit the zoo. If you take TriMet to get there, you can get $1.50 off your admission price. My first stop was the Cascade Grill to grab some lunch. It had some decent menu options but I ended up ordering the burger and... More

So I went to the zoo, and when initially walking in I was like well this is tiny. So I took my time looking at every attraction, and enjoying myself, reading everything. Well than about two and a half hours later... when they said over the loudspeaker they are closing it hit me if we did not hurry through the... More

This is by far the best zoo you can visit in the northwest United States. Or, if you don't like zoo's this is an excellent place to take a long walk and enjoy nature. I recommend buying a zoo membership instead of a regular ticket.

We came on a really busy day! Bad choice! However, everyone was courteous even though everything was crowded. There was a lot of construction going on--someplace between petting zoo and primate building. Not much activity out of the animals but that's to be expected on a hot day. Aquariums were nice--more activity out of water animals. Bird section was very... More

We enjoy visiting zoos and had read the reviews so we were not expecting too much. That being said, we enjoyed our 3 hour visit. We went during the week so it wasn't super crowded and also got a discount for taking Trimet there. The best part the day we were there was the Great Northwest. It felt like we... More

Most of the animals were not where you could see them, which I'm sure the animals appreciate. The animals we did see didn't seem to happy like I have seen in other zoos.

The zoo seems quite large and has an array of animals and habitats. I've visited twice and really liked it each time. Would recommend.

We arrived early midweek in hopes of seeing some activity with the animals. What animals? they were far and in between. The most action we saw was one teenage elephant showing off his trick of turning the water picket on and off. Most of the animals were inside their habitats and could not be seen or looked half dead. This... More
