The square is alleged to be so free and open. So full of artsy class. In fact it is inundated by runaways with names like Needles, Tree, Koala, Leathers and such-not. These feral youths are drug addicted, lazy and violent. 9 out of 10 did not leave abuse or danger. They left because mommy and daddy wouldn't buy them an... More

This should be your first stop if you have questions about what to see or how to travel in the city of Portland. The city representatives can answer all of your questions and supply you with all of the information you need for a memorable visit.

Portland's Pioneer Square is the heart of downtown, a colorful brick-laden centre-piece to the City. Most impressive were the folks at the info center who were passionately pro Portland and also quite informative about things to do. I enjoyed the food carts and some of the sculpture as well as watching a game of near life-size chess... Worth wandering through... More

Ive beeb here a few times. Very little to do in a very small space. Mostly home to homeless people who get evicted when theres an event going on. Not worth a trip into town for.

"Portland's living room" was very colorful when we visited last June- hundreds of potted flowers were artfully arranged around the square- it was beautiful! Seems to be the hub of the downtown area- lots of tourists and locals alike hanging out. We liked all the sculpture art in the area- there are some really cute animal fountains just down the... If you are in the area and happen to chance upon this location then it is worth spending a few moments maybe to people watch and check out the weather clock, but outside of that it is not something I would seek out. This is a interesting place for Portlanders to hang out at when the weather is good and... More

it may be Portland's "living room".... But it's really a place where troubled teens, bums, and pesky protesters hang out. Often times when walking from Pioneer shopping mall to Nordstrom- I do not feel comfortable walking amongst the riff raff- as they sometimes heckle and have that group gang mentality. Be careful at night. Police presence is usually pretty good-... More

300+ tubas of all kinds gather every year for a free Christmas concert in the park w/ sing-along handouts and funny hats. Park crowded with listeners. Wonderful tradition.

I would normally rate a square like this no more than 4 stars but if you go for the food carts it elevates it to 5 stars. They have about 50 of them in this location. The square was the last stop on our excellent Portland Walking tour. We sampled some of the best Belgium Waffles that I have experienced.

Experience local events such as "The Comical Brides of March" ... Mach Weddings. There is a cool signpost there pointing the direction and distance to many natiinal cities. A great photo op! The tourist information center is quite helpful at helping you plan your sightseeing interests. There is a Starbucks Coffee Store in the Square. It is a main stop... More
