Brick by brick, step by step this is the MUST see when you visit Portland. Free events almost all year long. Movies in the summer time, beer festivals, food festivals, you name it! My favorite place to be! And, KGW has it's own television studio there so you can catch a glimpse of the news report and maybe see yourself... More

Okay, so here I am writing a review on a Square...seems kind of odd to do so, but in this case, it's not. We were wandering around Portland taking in the sites and scenery and happened upon the square while they were having an event (Dancing Outdoors?). It was a lot of fun to sit there and enjoy the entertainment... More

In the heart of the city. There is always great people watching to be had and usually some kind of event. Grab some to go grub, take a seat on the steps and take in everybody that portland has to offer.

This is a well maintained and used courthouse. There's no cost to tour it. You have a curator who tells you about the place and then you're on your own to explore. It's a working courthouse, so people are in different offices, but don't seem to mind you looking in.

My wife and I were leery of visiting the square but we ended up being impressed. We visited 3 times in 6 days and got to enjoy an Italy festival, a free CD giveaway, free French fries courtesy of McDonalds, a music concert, flower market, a tremendous visitor information outlet, free public bathrooms, and (of course) a daily weather forecast... This is a great place to just hang out and people-watch. At the time we were there was a modern dance troupe performing. Somewhat hidden underneath is the tourist information center. The volunteer on duty gave us a better map than we had come with and provided a few ideas for sights to see. Well worth stopping in.

I was only in Portland for less than a week but on my first night I walked by Pioneer Courthouse square. Music floated across the evening air, people gathered around and later, a free presentation of Jurasic Park was underway as I walked back. Over the next few days it seemed that there was always something going on! What a... More

A central location to chill in Portland. The square is often used for public events so you can find a variety of goings on here. Fairly quiet if there are no events.

A great gathering point with attractions, shade, rest and very walkable. The summer farmers market is small, accessible and has nice fresh farm offerings. Some vendors need a bit of " public relations training". I like the amphitheatre set up for staging
