Loads of places to stop and get a coffee and people watch. Pioneer Square is in the central shopping area. We found it a good way to enjoy the sun and have a break whilst exploring the city.

Spent some time sitting in this very inviting square in the heart of Portland. There a lot of things going on here, even though it is not obvious at first. The square is beautifully designed as a hang out for locals, as well as a great place for visitors. The Visitor's center located on the square provides visitors with a... More

This is a quaint place to sit with a coffee and a friend and people watch. It's in the heart of downtown Portland and has a beautiful garden.

Plenty of seating, a starbucks (but go somewhere cool and local if you can), and restrooms hiding in the Macy's across the street.... This place is great for a group to reboot. Luckily the largest PDX foodtruck pod is just up the street! (Alder & 9th) go their for food and walk back here to eat it. For more tips... More

This is a great place to walk around especially when the weather is nice. You can see people hanging out or making their way through town. The chairs are a nice touch too.

I saw great reviews for this so we went when we were in Portland this week. I was very disappointed. The square was nice and big and the weather was great. Otherwise it wasn't worth it. There was some concert of kids performing songs and dances and it was so terrible we ended up just leaving.

The day we were downtown the square had hundreds of pots of colorful flowers arranged on the square. There is a fountain, and lots of steps for folks to sit and enjoy the city going by. Downtown Portland is really a neat area.

I'm a Portland native and have been in this square numerous times. I have never felt inclined to "hang out" there. Unless there's a special event filling the square, the continual presence of mostly young men with nothing to do and questionable character, plus religious/political ravers, plus a scattering of homeless makes this square unappetizing. It's just bricks, people. Go... More

This is a unique place. There was music going on when we were there. Coffee house on the corner so you can get coffee and go sit in the square, beautiful sunshining day!! It's all concrete, surround by concrete steps so you can sit anywhere.

Whenever I go to Portland, I always stop at Pioneer Courthouse Square. It is a great place to sit, and just watch people go by. Pioneer Courthouse Square is known as "Portland's Living room". Every time that I have go to "the square", it is different. For example, during the holiday season, a large Christmas tree is in the middle... More
