The center of downtown, Pioneer Courthouse Square is always hopping. It is the site of many changing special events from the tuba concert and lighted Christmas tree, the Italian festival, dancing demonstrations, sand sculptures, outdoor movies, just to name a few! Of course, the ever-present people watching is also entertaining.. You may just see Darth Vader on his unicycle whizzing... More

With a TV broadcasting studio in one corner, a Starbucks in another and visitor's info also present, even without all the intersecting light rail lines and constant displays and gatherings, this would still be a very busy place.

Lots of great shops and restaurants here and you will see the locals and tourist gather here. The rail line runs right through the square,.

Each time we journeyed into Portland on the train we got off at the Square stop and walked up. Each time there was something going on - Farmers market once and a Health fair the other . There are always a lot of Portland's characters to be seen around the square .Don't miss the square .Close to the square are... More

Don't come here just to visit. Personally, it was a checkbox destination on a whirlwind bike ride, which, in the three minutes I had there, left the place feeling kind of flat. Lame, even. But I could imagine that, given more time, this place would reveal it's charms. If I ever return to Portland, this place will certainly top my... More

This is a location to visit if there is an event. We were passing through at one point and there was a choir singing, which was nice. The next time when nearby, there was a small market. The information shop is full of brochures, clean restrooms and a staff of folks who can answer questions.

open space for various summer offerings but nothing too special. In the summer, there are different activities there and farmer's market wkly. They have Flicks on the Bricks in the summer too but it gets dark so late in Portland, you have to wait until it's late to see the screen. Food place to eat lunch from the carts.

This is a great place to people watch. You'll see some of the true culture of Portland if you hang out at the square. It's also a nice place that events are held including movies in the park and the annual tree lighting. It's near lots of great shopping as well. I'd suggest grabbing a coffee or tea and just... When we visited it was about 94 degrees out and we wanted to get away from the sun for a bit, sit and relax and get a bite to eat and Pioneer Square was the place to go. We thought this would also be the place to stop at the Visitor Center, but it was closed. We did get some... More

Not a lot going on while we were there, but we sat on the bricks outside Starbucks and watched the tourists come and go. Good people watching and enjoyed watching folks stand for the first time on the circle and hear their voice echo. Good spot to take a break from the shopping madness.
