Notice the names on the bricks beneath your feet. We donated to build this Square for the common citizen to enjoy. Sit with a coffee, wait for your train, soak in a few rays, listen to music if you're fortunate to be there when entertainment arrives.

If I'm going to go downtown on a perfect summer day, chill out, enjoy some sun, maybe a bite to eat, potentially some music or other event being hosted in the Square, this is where I'd spend my days in downtown. People are friendly, there are plenty of stores around, restrooms to use, shade, max line runs right by, yep... More

Fairly crummy little area. There are fifty, unwashed hippies competing for the oxygen. There are little junkies and runaways hanging out trying to mug you. The city puts in shows and exhibits to tempt folks but in fact the police and city refuse to move in an incarcerate the dirty, foul and lazy square puppies who hang out. (Square puppy... More

Portlands living room is always attracting interesting activities and crowds and is the center of downtowns shopping area. I wouldn't hang out here at night but during the day you will usually find something fun going on here.

Nothing special, no events going on when we visited. It is a good place to sit and people watch. It gave us a destination to walk to when we walked around downtown.

If you go to Portland, you have to go here. It is pretty much the center of the city. Always a good place to do some people watching. This is a pretty safe location if you are worried about your safety. TRI-MESS, the mass transit system, stops on all sides of the square. Be sure to ride the train. It... More

The Visitor's Center is nice and the people working there= kind and helpful. The sign to all the cities is fun. The first time we ever visited Portland (we live here now) someone took us on a tour and kept going on about taking us to Pioneer Square like it was the center of the universe. It's just a a... Right downtown, close to hotels, concert venue, Nordstrom, Macy's, etc. Often used for community events and fundraisers. Starbucks on site. Max runs right in front of the Square. Beautiful at Christmas time! Note: you will encounter individuals asking for spare change.

It's an entire square block of brick... Brick steps, flat brick walk space, Info Center and lets not forget the Starbucks! It's architecturally dated from a decade we've all forgot. Its used for event space or sitting. Events have to be small, it's not a huge space. It's not very attractive, but is in the heart of the city and... More
