....nicely presented....third floor permanent installation from the first Oregonians and their cultures to lure of the West to what shapes modern Oregon. Additional permanent and temporary exhibits on other floors.....enjoyed the collection of WWII posters. Nice gift shop. allow minimum of 2 to 4 hours depending on how you absorb museum info.

It was raining hard so we needed a good, interesting indoor activity. This museum has the history of Oregon outlined in a very organized fashion with details through the last two hundred years. It is very comprehensive and we probably were only able to see one third of it in our visit. It will be worth a follow up visit... More

The building is impressive and the greeter is informative and welcoming, the store has a lot to offer but it's not always clear what is local product and what is not The permanent exhibit "Oh Oregon..." Confusingly starts in the 1950's but gets better as you go through it. There are dioramas of a covered wagon, supplies shipped and a... More

Try something new. Have lived in Portland for many years and had not visited the Museum. My 90 year old father was in town and my sister and I took him one afternoon. The joy of seeing his excitement when he saw military uniforms and things that were meaningful to him was the very best thing ever. There are many... More

We were able to view a special WW2 display at the OHSM recently. The display was so impressive and included rarely seen artifacts on loan from local contributors from their private collections. OHS has frequent special displays in addition to their usual collection so you can watch for themes of interest.. Location is convenient to MAX line and restaurants nearby.... More

So I was disappointed in their small smattering of info on the trail but the rest of the display was pretty good, regarding the history of the founding of Oregon. However, there was a world war two exhibit on while we were there, and that was amazing. The enigma machine, and the SS officers uniforms.. Loved it! Worth the value... More

Wonderful museum to understand Oregon history. Great educational experience for children. Try South Park for lunch a few blocks north for great seafood to make you day.
