At the time of my visit the waterfront park was filled with geese. It was an unusual sight for me as geese are not that common where I live and hundreds of geese were in the grass walking, sleeping and talking to each other. The geese did not seem to be fearful of humans and would slowly walk away from... More

We didn't get to explore all of the Waterfront Park. The main reason for going was the Portland Saturday Market (also there on Sunday) which features a surprising amount of quality crafts as opposed to mass-produced tourist trinkets. The park has bike paths, open green areas all the way down to the water and it stretches for a good long... More

A really nice place to to a bike ride or walk along the waterfront. Many activities are staged here along the length of the waterfront and it is a nice escape from the urban mayhem. There is a public unisex restroom (surprisingly clean for a public restroom). There can be a many homeless about the green ways and it seems... More

Fun and scenic (changing) ride with downtown eastside residential. A little of everything. On an earlier a.m. spectacular sunny fall day rode this whole loop yesterday - FUN!

Wonderful and active throughout the day and into the evening. Had a conference at the other side of the park so ended up walking through at least a couple of times a day over a week. The place is alive with families, children, young people and every one else mixing and co-existing. With the Saturday market at one end and... More

We were looking forward to taking a nice stroll along the waterfront because we heard it was beautiful and a definite must for Portland. It was definitely beautiful and we were able to take a great deal of pictures. However, the park was packed with bike riders, joggers, and a horde of homeless. I'm not sure if it was the... More

I had to check my date, indeed it was Tuesday morning. There were so many people riding bikes, jogging, reading, visiting and just plain lounging I thought it must be a weekend. I actually rode my bike through the park and made a big loop up one side of the Willamette River and down the other. Very very interesting and... More

This park is one of the places in Portland that is always lively and really reflects the flavor of the city. In the summer, it is the place for what seems to be nonstop festivals and events. Portland loves to celebrate summer outdoors. Here you have cyclists, families, tourists, homeless, lovers, joggers, locals sunbathing, business people taking lunch break......it is... More

We stopped by the Bite of Portland on a day that was very hot and humid. The park was dry and dusty. We have been to similar food sampling events in Seattle. This one was not worth the time or expense. W tried some salt and pepper chicken. It was tasty but tough. The lean sausages were too lean...dry and... More

Any visit to PDX should include a stroll along the Willamette river via Tom Mc Call waterfront park. You can walk for an hour straight passing under several bridges which can be accessed by stairs if you want to walk to the east side of the river, where the OMSI museum is located (also recommended). At the south end is the... More
