A truely beautiful spot. Easy to access from I84. The only down fall is it is very crowded. Depending on how ambitious you are feeling, this can be a quick 30 minute pit stop to stretch road weary legs, or a half day adventure if you want to go all the way to the top. Much less crowded up there.

The way the road is positioned for this drive makes it all worth doing. I kept imagining that this is what Lewis and Clark and Sacawejea say as they came down the river. It is enough to make a non-believer trust that their is some Power out there.

Columbia River Gorge is stunning and awe inspiring. Don't plan on seeing the whole thing in one day, unless of course you just drive through. Multnomah Falls is the single most visited location in Oregon, and for good reason. It can be crowded, but if you are short on time, and want to see some of the best the Gorge... More

This whole area is nice. Be sure you get on scenic highway 30. So many beautiful waterfalls and views of the city and hikes along the way. I wish we had more time in this area

If you take this drive without stopping at the falls or the towns of Hoodriver or the Dalles you are missing out. The far end at Arlington is pretty special too!

The Columbia River is one of the largest rivers in the U.S. with very diverse scenery. Whether your drive takes you to Multnomah Falls or across the states of Washington or Oregon the views are outstanding. Mountain sheep live in the steep slopes of the Gorge and can frequently be seen grazing along the rocks.

A trip to "the gorge" was recommended by a local that I met at breakfast. She said "go there if you don't go anywhere else..." Her advice was spot on. Driving along the Columbia River rivaled any other trip. The Multnomah Falls alone were worth the plane trip and drive. The hike to the top was 1.2 miles of effort,... More

The Columbia Gorge is a spectacular area, well worth a drive. The falls are nice and seem to be why everyone visits the area, but there is a so much more. The Columbia River flowing between 2 mountains ranges makes for ideal scenery. If you are visiting the area from the Portland/Vancouver area, my advice is to drive the Oregon... More
