This is a great area to walk around, check out cute boutiques (no Target here), get some tasty treats, decorate your home and do a lot of Christmas shopping. 21st and 23rd are the core shopping streets, and one can make an easy loop of the parallel streets. Some of my favorites: *Kitchen Kabodle - think Sur La Table but... More

So many great shops around this area--NW 23rd is the best for that. Ether and Sloan Boutique are some of my favs. There's also a great butcher shop off 23rd called Phil's Uptown Meat Market. I highly recommend.

My favourite district of Portland. You can spend hours in The Meadow salt shop, tasting and smelling the variety of salts (black truffle on popcorn-ridiculous) Salt & Straw ice-cream, this little gem does not disappoint. Lavender Honey was outstanding! Tons of funky shops and an amazing $25 pedi at Elegant (ask for Christine-best message ever)!

My wife and I covered quite a bit of ground in one week of our stay in near downtown Portland. We tried to cover as many neighborhoods as we could. Our best one, hands down was the Nob Hill District. How delightful!! First the setting is leafy and well shaded. Second, the food selection is wide and good. Third, the... More

Stayed here twice in 3 months and enjoyed the restaurants in this area. This is a very walkable neighborhood and I was out late at night and early in the morning since my body clock was messed up with the 3 hour time zone change.

My sister lives here. The 23rd St restaurant area is wonderful, great walking-around area, very safe, restaurants of all price ranges. I can personally recommend Basta, Blue Moon, Serratto, and Cafe Nell! Area is lovely in Fall, beautiful old trees changing colors. Love the NW!

My sister lives in NW, lovely mix of houses and apartments, so many very good restaurants, fun bars, LGBT welcoming community. A neighborhood yet fun for us visitors. Wine bars, lots of ethnic restaurants, a very pleasant mix of day or night fun!

NW 23rd and 21st is quintessentially Portland. There are a number of quirky little shops, some great restaurants and bars and if you can sit by the window or at an outside table, the people watching is absolutely world-class.

We love this area of Portland. We always stay at the Inn at Northrup. It is a great neighborhood, so the people eat and shop in this area. It also seems to keep the vagrant population at night down so walking around in the evening and night always seems safe. Great selection of bars, restaurants, and speciality supermarkets. There also... More

Restaurants of almost every type (weak on Chinese, great on Japanese, Thai, Italia...). Interesting little shops. Beautiful Queen Anne houses from turn of last century. Outstanding people watching places from sidewalk caefes.
