This was a 2 hour tour that can accomodate wheelchairs. I know the staff doesn't control the wildlife but it was a disappointment that all we saw were birds because everyone was excited to see whales. The staff was great and all the kids loved catching the crab and holding them. The staff walked around the boat and was always... More

The captain and the naturalist can't control the weather. Neither can they control whether the wildlife decide to cooperate. But they do go out of their way to make sure that you have a good time. The kids got to drive the boat with the captain. They also got to trap crab and pick them up and throw them back... More

We loved our time aboard the Discovery. The captain and Dalphne were so kind and made sure everyone enjoyed themselves. We didn't see any whales but still had so much fun. Our son loved the crabbing and getting to steer the ship. When they found out that it was what he had chosen to do for his birthday they made... More

Took our three kids to Newport while here on the Oregon coast & caught this educations boat tour of the Harbour plus an hour or so whale watching. We saw 9 California Gray Whales and they put on a pretty good show for us. Also saw some Sea Lions and Harbour Seals. Kids got to help pilot the boat .... More

Not only did we get to see a whale off the coast, but we were most impressed with the educational program that was presented. After leaving the dock, our naturalist (Delpha) had kids volunteer to help put two crab pots overboard. Then we headed out to sea to find whales - Captain Bob did a great job finding one. We... So worth doing this adventure at Newport Beach. Our ship captain and onboard naturalist were amazing! We saw grey whales, seals and lots of birds. We dropped crab pots in the harbor as we left and then picked them up upon returning. You don't get to keep and eat the crabs, but rather the naturalist tells you about the local... More

We were able to book a tour spur of the moment. It was very easy to find. We have 2 boys 5 and 8 and they had a great time. The captain was very knowledgeable and our guide Delpha (I think) was very informative and interact. Which was great for the kids. We saw several whales, went into the Pacific... More

My 14 year old son and I visited Newport and decided to try out the Marine Discovery Tour. It was a lot of fun and we both learned new things at the same time. We boarded the Discovery at 11:30AM for our 2-hour trip and within the first 30 minutes, we were seeing the "blow", which is when a whale... More

Great tour captain and staff were very knowledgeable. Ocean waves were high so took us a river trip but was able to see animals. Staff put crab pots in water and were able to catch crabs to show to everyone on board

I have done this tour multiple times and seen whales on every occasion. The staff do a great job of making their guests comfortable, narrating their tour and providing great sights. The trip takes about 2 hours and sales out of the harbor and into the Pacific Ocean. If you are not used to boats Dramamine or scopolamine would be... More
