Lighthouses are built to warn about fog so it is better to visit in the afternoon after the fog burns off. This is a nice park to visit for 3 or 4 hours. The entrance fee of $7 per car was good for 3 days. Starting at the museum, we drove to the lighthouse but it would have been a... more

Quite busy for a weekday, but it is summer! We enjoyed the history of the lighthouse, however, due to the wait within the actual work area of the light house, it was stuffy, no windows open, probably to keep the flies out, but, there were numerous flies inside. I kept thinking, if they just opened the windows we could have... more

This was a very nice attraction. The staff are friendly, helpful and extremely knowlegable about this attraction. It is 7 dollars to get in (considered a state park) but that is good for three days so you can go back. The view was breathtaking. You can also go up into the lighthouse. The only problem I had were with the... more

I was at the Yaquina Lighthouse on May 21, 2009. You first come to the Visitor's Center. I got the Oregon Coast Passport, which is a great idea. It is only $10 and good to see a lot of areas on the Oregon coast and is good for 5 days. The gift shop here has a lot of interesting items... more

..... Wow, is it worth it! Spectacular views... hiking... a lighthouse to explore... this place has something for everyone. The Oregon coast has a promising roadside park and/or viewpoint every mile or two, or so it seems. Not wanting to miss something memorable, one of the frustrations of the infrequent visitors is deciding which ones are truly worthy of valuable... more

I visited the lighthouse and visitor's center on 9/13/08 and enjoyed it very much. Whatever you do, DON'T blow off the visitor's/interpretive center. It is really a great starting point in which to learn about the history of the lighthouse in addition to learning about what type of wildlife lives in the region. Just with that place alone you get... more

Yaquina Head Lighthouse and the surrounding park is just off of Highway 101 and well worth the detour. The natural beauty of the area and the scenic views are just awesome. This is one place to get some beautiful photographs of the Oregon coastline. I stopped in here while slowly making my way up the coast and just sightseeing. The... more

Wicked awesome place. $7 gets you in for three days. My wife and I waited for about 20 minutes to get a chance to climb the 100+ stairs to the top of the lighthouse. It was really neat to learn about why we have lighthouses and how they were built and maintained. more

My husband had never been into a lighthouse before, and we were on the Oregon Coast on vacation in December. I happened to see the sign for "Yaquina Head Lighthouse" and took a quick left (it's just north of Newport off 101) It was $5 to drive in and a quick drive out to the lighthouse. We were excited that... more

I'm sure the lighthouse would have been more interesting if the view from the top had been something more spectacular than the fog. The prism was pretty cool though, the size and magnitude of the light's shell was interesting to geeks like me. It's kind of fun to imagine the long boring nights the keepers would have had to deal... more
