What Rex Hill lacks in location (no stunning hilltop setting, just a highway location near Newberg) is more than made up with an attractive tasting room, some interesting wine accessories available for purchase and knowledgable and friendly staff. We arrived early on a Sunday morning and had the tasting counter to ourselves. Herbert proved to be a fabulous host taking... More

We traveled through wine country around Newberg on our way from Portland to the Bay Area. The Rex Hill pinot noirs are silky smooth. Highly recommended. And the staff knows their wine, so they are fun to visit.

I first tried their lowest price point Pinot in Cannon Beach and thought it was solid, so we decided to stop by for a tasting when we were in Newberg. The price points were a bit high for Pinot but they were so smooth! I even liked their Chardonnay and I normally am not a Chardonnay fan at all. I... More

I've enjoyed drinking Rex Hill for sometime so when my husband and I realized we were close to the winery while in Portland we jumped at the chance to go. We were not disappointed! We even joined the wine club which I usually never do!

We had a quick stop but loved he environment. It was lovely inside the tasting room since it was converted from hazelnut drying ovens. Outside, you could see the vines and some nice landscaped areas. The Pinot noirs were subtle and smooth. We also loved their Chardonnay which was done in concrete barrels. Ended up making several purchases!

My wife and I did the tasting on the patio overlooking the vineyard and pines. This was our first stop of 4 in Newberg and Dundee and were impressed with the wine. Even though we are used to bold California cabernet, we enjoyed the subtle flavors of the pinots here so much so that we signed up for the 2... More

Easily located near Newburg, in the heart of the Willamette Valley wine country offers a solid experience and is a stop I recommend. The tasting room may not be as state-of-the-art sleek design as others but it is uniquely in the roasting hall for the former hazel nut farm. Quaint for sure. The current construction suggests the dramatic expansion of... More

Tasting room is filled with beautiful European antiques, exhibits of the different Willamette Valley soil types and even NBA basketballs (Greg Popovich of San Antonio Spurs is a part owner of the winery). A long dining area is set in what was once a Hazel Nut roasting oven. So plenty to look at while swirling wine. Nice views, though construction... More

We were at a conference in Portland and I was charged with getting a great Oregon Pinot Noir for a dinner party. I'm a beer drinker so I have no idea . . . I stopped in the Rex and was met by friendly staff. Clean, nice place, easy to access. They explained it all to me but how was... More

I love Rex Hill Winery! I've visited many wineries in the area and have done many tastings. Rex Hill has consistently wonderful wines. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The tasting room is very interesting with the old fruit drying tunnels. They host great events too. Make it a stop in your next winery tour. You won' be disappointed.
