There's more to it than just a lake.

The lake is beautiful, with cool clear water (you don't need to worry if you swallow some, it won't hurt you), nice easy access beaches. The real gem are all the trails, which... read more

The lake is beautiful, with cool clear water (you don't need to worry if you swallow some, it won't hurt you), nice easy access beaches. The real gem are all the trails, which include a trail to a true life big foot trap built some time in the 1930s. (I think it would have worked better if they out a... More

The water is wonderful, although very low, you can see the high water marks from years (many it seems) past. Limited access, there are only a few places where you can easily get down to the water with one of them a state park area that requires a fee, the others have very limited parking areas. Steep banks are another... More

Applegate Lake is a perfect place to visit and stay for a weekend or a week. Clean clear cool water. many arms to investigate, it never feels crowded. Of the five lakes in Jackson County, it is my famly's favorite lake. Beautiful setting. great swimming, hiking, fishing, boating and camping. At the back of the lake turning left, great drive... There are hiking trails around the lake and a popular one is to go to the end and turn left on a dirt road to the trailhead. With two cars you can use a shuttle and do 8 miles in one direction. For serious hikers there are options close by like Mount Collins and Horse Camp. The latter is 3150... More

We have camped all over the lake before, but the best spot I know of is just a bit past the lake. Go right at the T and look really good for a hidden turn on the right. Nice fire pits, right by the creek and concrete slab. It's not a campground, nor is it marked. Its locally owned property... More

Huge meandering lake with great hiking trails, swimming, boating, fishing. A Western reservoir to be sure but really clean and surrounded by beautiful forested mountains. Hike in and take a dip when you get hot.

This is average as lakes go. It's a relatively large lake. Kids often take the scary jump off the bridge into the water. I wouldn't do that or course. The lake is a long drive from Medford, but it's a beautiful drive on country roads. While you're out that way, a stop at McKee Bridge and the restaurant there is... More

This used to be a great place to go but is not taken care of like it used to be. The lake is beautiful but sometimes there can be a little rowdy crowd with no one to control situations. The area is a beautiful place.

Nice lake for picnicking and swimming. I've never fished there but many people do. Some areas have late season opening due to weather but a clean place and nice for families.
