The trees are turning color, beautiful. The food was yummy and service out standing. Even the train robbery was a hoot. Parkdale, is sweet and the BBQ place smelled wonderful and if we hadn't been stuffed from the brunch know we would have eaten there. Next month the Polar Express trains start. Lovely relaxing day. Cheers

This is emphatically not one of the more enjoyable or scenic trips. The car we rode in was probably rustic at some point in time but is now just broken down with torn seats, dingy windows, an out of order restroom, and cramped seating. The route through the countryside provides views of trees, piles of junk along the tracks, pear... More

The Mount Hood Railroad was built in 1906 as a locally owned independent short line railroad running 21.2 miles south from Hood River, Oregon, to the town of Parkdale, a few miles from the base of Mt. Hood. It prospered hauling forest products and fruit until the 1980's when it was threatened with abandonment. Local owners took it over and... More

WE took the train to see the scenery and because we like trains. Lunch was included if you ride in the upper deck and an hour stop at a little town with awesome pie! I was amazed at how slowly the train moved. It wasn't a problem, just an observation.

We chose seats in the dome. Glad we did. Included lunch, coffee and tea. Beer and wine were available. The lunch was delicious. We split the antipasto (fresh and delicious) and the chicken wrap (with fresh basil in it). About 3 hours round trip. Once the train stops, not much to do there except go to the bathroom, but the... Admit it--didn't we all love trains and adventures as a child? With this train ride, you get out of it what you put into it. We four "seniors" had a marvelous time, but it would be fun for your kids and grandkids too. A young man dressed as a conductor, whose voice projected very authentically, gave us the "All Aboard"... With the exception of the young lady in the ticket office that should not be allowed anywhere near a customer service job, the experience was wonderful. Folks, this is a working train route! It was not designed so that you get panoramic views at every turn, be realistic! If you want constant panoramic views hire a helicopter. I happen to... More

Took the train ride in September. We sat in the upper dome thinking we would be getting a scenic ride, we didn't. We were hoping for great views of the beautiful mountains and surrounding valleys but that was not the case. We saw the tops of trees and miles of pear orchards. This was not worth the money we spent.... More

I gave this one star only because there was nothing less to choose. We recently took the excursion to Parksdell. We got an uncomfortable ride in a filthy, un-restored, cold train car that leaked water when it rained and windows fogged up so bad you could not see out and a 30 minute stop in town that consists of a... We had never had the opportunity to take the Mt. Hood Railroad, so finally celebrated our 19 yr. Anniv. on Saturday four-hour Parkdale trip. For the additional $ we purchased first class (the upper view) and it was so well worth it! -Took lots of lovely pictures. -Somebody on the train provides information about the area and fun things to...
