Admit it--didn't we all love trains and adventures as a child? With this train ride, you get out of it what you put into it. We four "seniors" had a marvelous time, but it would be fun for your kids and grandkids too. A young man dressed as a conductor, whose voice projected very authentically, gave us the "All Aboard"... With the exception of the young lady in the ticket office that should not be allowed anywhere near a customer service job, the experience was wonderful. Folks, this is a working train route! It was not designed so that you get panoramic views at every turn, be realistic! If you want constant panoramic views hire a helicopter. I happen to... More

Took the train ride in September. We sat in the upper dome thinking we would be getting a scenic ride, we didn't. We were hoping for great views of the beautiful mountains and surrounding valleys but that was not the case. We saw the tops of trees and miles of pear orchards. This was not worth the money we spent.... More

I gave this one star only because there was nothing less to choose. We recently took the excursion to Parksdell. We got an uncomfortable ride in a filthy, un-restored, cold train car that leaked water when it rained and windows fogged up so bad you could not see out and a 30 minute stop in town that consists of a... We had never had the opportunity to take the Mt. Hood Railroad, so finally celebrated our 19 yr. Anniv. on Saturday four-hour Parkdale trip. For the additional $ we purchased first class (the upper view) and it was so well worth it! -Took lots of lovely pictures. -Somebody on the train provides information about the area and fun things to... This is a fun way to see the north side of Mt Hood and the surrounding forest. Depending on the time of year, you will get a unique experience. for example, during the winter holidays you will enjoy the Polar Express. This has become an annual family event. This is a great trip for all ages.

We were in the dome for the excursion tour. Had the tuna salad and antipasti and both were very tasty. Service was excellent. Tea and coffee provided. Beer, wine and pop available for a charge. Loved having the tables and really enjoyed the scenery. Everything from orchards to Mt. Hood. Very relaxing ride. The Ice cream in Parkdale was a... More

We took my elderly parents on the Sunday brunch/lunch train. It's a relaxing 3/12 hr. ride through a beautiful part of Oregon. We saw pear orchards, vineyards, abandoned towns and other small populated towns while traveling through forests along the Hood River. We rode in the dome car and it was very comfortable. The narration on the first part of... More

Enjoyed the train ride. Very relaxing and got a nice view of Mt. Hood. Good way to pass the time while my husband and son where out riding trails. Staff were super friendly. Enjoyed the ride. Only one stop in Parkdale, which is a small small small town

This is an expensive jaunt on a train if you do the Polar Express ride! We did the Diamond Class seating (table configurations) in the evening because I thought it would be more magical, but they don't really have any good Christmas light displays along the route. Do not spend the extra money on the Sky Dome seats for the... More
