Good deal with a Groupon, otherwise just ok.

Last March we got a Groupon for Mount Hood railroad. Unlike it's grand opening I was invited too years ago, the railcars were getting run down. Not a bad way to kill a rainy... read more

Have taken the train all 4 seasons. Spring for the flossoms, Summer for the fun and views of Mt. Hood, Fall for the color and winter for the holidays. Also experience mystery theater (fall) and turkey bowling (Thanksgiving). All rfun and a great way to see the Hood River Valley.

I have been on the Skunk River Train in California, so I was expecting a scenic journey across rivers and canyons. Instead, it simply went through orchards and trees (which, no doubt, would be colorful in the Fall) and stopped at a postage sized town with a small museum, a craft shop or two, and a couple of restaurants. In... More

My grandpa has always wanted to do this so I thought it would be a great Father's Day gift! I ordered the gift certificate 6 days in advance and the man on the phone assured me they would make it to my address before Saturday. It's Father's Day and no gift certificate! My address is in Monmouth a.k.a not that... More

My husband and I road the train for a few hours to the base of Mt. Hood. The entertainment was a train "robbery", and it was really fun. The ride was beautiful and to be at the base of this amazing mountain was incredible. It was just a really fun time. We sat in the "diamond class" which has windows... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are pleased that you enjoyed your ride, the service and the views from your dome car seats in Diamond Class. It's also good to hear you enjoyed the Western Train Robbery entertainment. We hope to see you again on our rails! More

We in the UK are blessed with numerous steam locomotives to look at, ride behind on excursions, enjoy steam days, galas etc., but to see one of this size albeit not in steam but has worked on the mainline in the US was quite something. The size of this beast in comparison to the A4's, Castles etc. of the UK... More

Purchased the first class seating from Groupon at a decent price. I did not expect this to be the most luxurious or cozy train ride ever, but early into the voyage the train did seem to "wobble" on the tracks. Intermittent views of nothing to eye catching for the first 20 minutes or so, but as the ride continues you... More

My family and I purchased first class tickets through Groupon, and it was still overpriced. Due to medical issues, I can't handle heat, so when I made reservations, I made sure to ask for an air conditioned car. I was told this wasn't a problem. This didn't happen. Our car was incredibly uncomfortable and sweltering. When I approached a staff... More

Great train ride. Very comfortable. The staff were great. Very helpful and friendly. Beautiful country side, with informative narration during the ride. Lunch was delicious....bit of a walk to pick it up though. Lots of picnic benches available and big shade trees. All in all ...a great outing.
