Get a Groupon, not worth full price. It was pretty good overall to experience an old-fashion train ride. The ride is pretty "jolty" throughout the 4-hour train ride. It's best to get lunch in Parkdale and ice cream too! I personally got what I paid for (just got the standard seating) and enjoyed the pretty scenery. I think families, couples,... More

I'm not sure where to start!.....first let me say, I love train travel.....have taken the Amtrak from Portland to Seattle many times and love it. We paid extra for Skydome seating, very very cramped. We were thankful no one was in the other two seats at our table so we could set on either side. The tables are large and... More

the worst thing was the seats. very old and uncomfortable- not well restored or kept up at all. also very, very cramped for anyone taller than 5'5". it would be a bit nicer if you could switch sides to see the views both ways (train goes 'backward' down the mtn) but that might not help since the windows are super grungy... We've ridden a number of trains. This one has a unique switchback. The scenery is beautiful through the Hood River Valley and all of the orchards. The orchards were blooming and it was a clear day with incredible views of Mt Hood - picture perfect. The trip is about 4 1/2 hours, including a 1 hour layover in Parkdale. There... More

I've always loved trains and have wanted to do one of these trips for a long time. So when a social network coupon became available, I jumped at the chance! The trip itself was a lot of fun! It was interesting to hear the history along the way. The scenery was beautiful! The ride was a little rocky so take... More

Let me start with the positives. We drove from the Portland/Vacouver area to Hood River, a little more than an hour to the east. It was a beautiful Spring Day in the Pacific N.W. This was found and transacted through a Groupon which as usual, worked very well. It is a little hard to find the Train Station, but Hood... More

Polar Express train was a lot of fun with the Grand Kids dressed in their PJ's. This part of the fun for this adventure. Then add the hot chocolate in the special cups for fun. There was story reading to tell the story of the Polar Express. I suggest you join the web site and be ready to sign up... More

We took the parlor class seating and for the money the experience was great. The Pullman type cars are not new and not re-modeled but for me that was part of the charm. We enjoyed the scenery and our Daughter enjoyed riding 'The Polar Express" . The day we went it was MONSOONING, Thank G-- for the Trolly - BTW... More

My friend had purchased the tickets for the polar express and asked me to join her w/the her 2 kids 6 & 9. I had no idea what to expect I was just along for the ride. We boarded the train and went to the upper level. The seats were very plush with a table in front. The staff was... More
