My family and I purchased first class tickets through Groupon, and it was still overpriced. Due to medical issues, I can't handle heat, so when I made reservations, I made sure to ask for an air conditioned car. I was told this wasn't a problem. This didn't happen. Our car was incredibly uncomfortable and sweltering. When I approached a staff... More

Great train ride. Very comfortable. The staff were great. Very helpful and friendly. Beautiful country side, with informative narration during the ride. Lunch was delicious....bit of a walk to pick it up though. Lots of picnic benches available and big shade trees. All in all ...a great outing.

This was a very relaxing Day trip. I suggest you look for a Groupon you can get a better deal. We sat up in the Dome seating which was awesome. We brought our own picnic lunch ( they do offer a bbq lunch for 10.00 a person) The crew aboard the rail were vey pleasant and friendly. I would do... More

My husband surprised me with a ride on the Mt Hood Railroad for my birthday. It was a wonderful sunny day. The train departs from the original railway station and makes it's way along the river and through the orchards. It has wonderful views of Mt Hood as you make your way up the hill. We sat in the dome... More

Nice ride to Mt Hood. could not see as much of Hood River as we might have liked, due to the lush vegetation. More orchards than expected, but fewer vineyards. Staff on train was nice.

Get a groupon or find a deal. Overall not the most comfortable ride. We had first class and the chairs need a bit more cushion for the tushion. Bring your own food and drink to save some $. Board games or a book would also be beneficial. The entertainment is best suited for the kids. Had a good BBQ lunch... More

Get a Groupon, not worth full price. It was pretty good overall to experience an old-fashion train ride. The ride is pretty "jolty" throughout the 4-hour train ride. It's best to get lunch in Parkdale and ice cream too! I personally got what I paid for (just got the standard seating) and enjoyed the pretty scenery. I think families, couples,... More

I'm not sure where to start!.....first let me say, I love train travel.....have taken the Amtrak from Portland to Seattle many times and love it. We paid extra for Skydome seating, very very cramped. We were thankful no one was in the other two seats at our table so we could set on either side. The tables are large and... More

the worst thing was the seats. very old and uncomfortable- not well restored or kept up at all. also very, very cramped for anyone taller than 5'5". it would be a bit nicer if you could switch sides to see the views both ways (train goes 'backward' down the mtn) but that might not help since the windows are super grungy... bring your own picnic food with you! at the end of the spot you have a picnic and its a must to take picture in front of orchards. don't waste your time looking for food cause there is nothing good!!
