Went with the good reviews I saw here, plus the great service I received via phone when I called around to arrange for some lessons for my wife and I. I had arranged for private water start lessons for me and beginner lessons for my wife. Day 1. Arrived at 9:30 as instructed to find the place disorganized and understaffed.... More

I rented a HobyCat sailboat here last week. (I'm a fairly experienced sailor, mostly with single-hulled boats; this was my first time with a HobyCat.) The experience was terrible over all, and I'm amazed they've stayed in business so long. Starting with the most serious problem: They have no motorboat for emergencies/rescues. The HobyCat was equipped with a mast buoy... More

We went to Hood River looking for a unique and different activity and found these guys. They have windsurfing, SUPs, and Sailing. We couldn't do it all so we picked windsurfing and Sailing and had a blast. The equipment was top notch and the instructors were patient, informative and FUN. We highly recommend these folks!

Jak was very kind and took the time to teach me how to ride. The staff was very friendly and helped me out a number of times. The gear was really awesome and was kept up in pretty good shape. It was a great time, Thank you!!

We recently took our grandson to Water Play and he had the best time of his life. Jak set him up with a great instructor who took very good care of him and kept him safe during the activity. We were greeted by a very friendly sales lady. The manager helped prepare everything and the gear technician was helpful and... More

We had our son take a few lessons from excellent instructors at Hood River Waterplay. We really appreciated the level of professionalism and friendliness from the employees. However, the owner, Jack, was very rude and unfriendly to us when we inquired (busted him?) about the questionable condition of some equipment he wanted to sell to us. There seemed to be... More

Had my third bad experinece with Hood River Waterplay. Shame on me for using them three times. The instructors are nice, but the owner doesn't manage the business well and they chronically over book the lessons, putting crowds on the water and run short of equipment. Go with another out fitter

Every company makes mistakes—that’s not a problem. What separates the good from the bad is how a company responds to its mistakes. This is why I say run, Forest, run! MISTAKE 1 We made reservations for 6 people for 10:00 a.m. and confirmed our reservations at 9:15 the morning of our reservation. At that point, the company knew it was... More

My wife is not know for being an adventurous person, but Jak from Hood River Water Play promised that he and his staff could get her up and running. In just one afternoon lesson, she was making turns in the beginner area and came home looking very pleased with herself. So, while I did not myself experience the lesson, I... More

Nice people but they took us to a small cove that was very windy. The locals later told me that Big Winds has a better teaching area.
