Description: Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia...
Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia, Peimonte, Italy. As a child he always wondered what it would be like to be a winemaker like his grandfather Achille. After running his own import company specializing in Italian wines for over 20 years, Franco began planting his favorite Northern Italian grapes in Hood River, where the climate and soil are just like Northern Italy. Please come visit, and taste our wines. Salute!

It was a warm Friday afternoon and local friends recommended Marchesi Vineyards. The outdoor seating right next to the vines was very welcoming. Also there was sufficient coverage from the sun on super hot days. The tasting was $8 and includes a Roseto, Primitivo, Sangiovese, Barbera, and Esta which was their Primitivo/Barbera blend. Great tast and smooth finish to all... More

This is a very pretty place to come to relax and sample some lovely wine. It is the setting, overlooking the vineyards, and the quiet and relaxed service that sets this over and above all others in the region. It is not so much about selling the wine as it is about wine education, appreciation and hospitality. They have plentiful... More

They advertise being awarded "Best in the Gorge" for many years running, and that is a reputation the absolutely deserve. This is a 'must visit' for anyone touring Columbia Gorge wineries. The location is the quaintest, most relaxing winery we visited. You enter the main tasting building to open a tab and buy a bottle, a glass, or a tasting... More

Just a last minute suggestion to go wine tasting in the Gorge with my wife, son and granddaughter. Each time we go, it just keeps getting better. Jodi and Richard were fun to talk to, professional, friendly, and made you feel at home. The wine was very good, as usual, and the day was very relaxing. We have never been... More

great wines, great hospitality... a little "piece" of Italy located in Oregon. I really enjoyed to meet Franco and speak about his passion: italian grapes

Marchesi's consistently excellent Italian varietals, comfortable tasting room and patio, and gracious service make it the one winery not to be missed in the Columbia River Gorge. On our most recent visit, we particularly enjoyed the Rosato (which one member of our group who doesn't generally like Rose wine said was the best she ever tasted), Dolcetto, Sangiovese, and Barbera.... Didn't care for their signature wine and we were skum following that. My wife was not happy that I bought a bottle of wine after the snooty treatment

Had been to some other wineries in the area but this was the best! Felt very Italian and friendly. Lovely outdoor setting to have a cheese board and a glass of Rose which was delicious!

We are wine club members here and have been several times for tastings even though we live over an hour away. We get two free tastings a month being members and a free plate of antipasta. They also offer dinners and a yearly wine tasting tour to Italy for members (extra $ of course). What really sets this winery apart... More

Marchesi winery in hood river has delicious wines and the scenery and atmosphere is inviting and relaxing. We are wine club members ( I would consider wine club members to be the heart of the business/ winery) I gave this winery a 4 star just because I feel that when we do come in there is a employee there who...
