Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia,...

Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia, Peimonte, Italy. As a child he always wondered what it would be like to be a winemaker like his grandfather Achille. After running his own import company specializing in Italian wines for over 20 years, Franco began planting his favorite Northern Italian grapes in Hood River, where the climate and soil are just like Northern Italy. Please come visit, and taste our wines. Salute!

It's no secret anymore! The tour buses and crowds at Marchesi Vineyards tell the story. The Italians have scored big time in Hood River! The atmosphere, music and wine all add up to a great experience. Few wineries offer the selection of wines and none compete with Franco's blends. From the Barbera to the Dulcetto to the Pinot Grigio your... More

While tasting at a very mediocre place in Hood River, we were advised by fellow tasters of this wonderful venue! Upon our arrival, we were greeted like long lost family and treated to a sampling of the best Italian wines this side of Italy! The owner and winemaker Franco, and his lovely wife Sandy were on hand, and shared their... More

We've been drinking Marchesi wines and visiting their location for a few years. We went to their semi-annual wine club member dinner recently and had a terrific time: opera, wines, great food, festive decorations, and interesting table mates.

Marchesi has outstanding wines and an outdoor relaxed tasting environment with bread sticks to freshen the palate between wines. It's the best Oregon winery visit we've experienced. A play area is provided to keep kids from being bored with the adult stuff. My wife and I (we live near Portland) took visitors from Washington, DC and South America and will... More

Marchesi Vineyards has an elegant, friendly tasting area. It was fairly busy when we went there, yet they had plenty of knowledgeable staff who could tell us plenty of information about their wines. Their breadsticks at each table were fresh and a nice touch. Their inexpensive tapa plate ($5) had cheese, salami and crackers. Lastly, (but most important!) their European... More

Marchesi is our favorite Oregon winery, by a long shot. When we first visited several years ago, they were just starting up, and I remember walking in and going to the counter like you do at most wineries when you want to do a tasting. They told us no, no - please, sit down, we'll bring the wine to you!... More

This vineyard specializes in Italian type wines and has an extremely attractive tasting toom with a terrace that sits right in the vineyard. After a day of tasting Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, these wines were a refreshing change of pace. Also, they offer for sale platters of Italian meat and cheese which were reasonably priced and added to the... More

There is no standing at a bar with the typical script of the wines, but relaxed lounging in a chair with the wine brought to you, not forced upon you. Privately enjoyed, not rushed, and the beat way to experience the wine. The wines were extremely good and has that Italian Flare to their body, taste, aroma. Out of all... More
