Beautifully restored aeroplanes, many very rare, fill a huge indoor facility surrounded by classic cars...a feast of transportation history that is as fun as it can be educational. Our Car Club had a cruise-in to WAAAM and they made it a very special occasion. Be sure to catch a day when they take out, and up, the classic aircraft. A... More

Thank you for the review. On the Second Saturday of every month WAAAM gives some of the collection its exercise. For those that love old transportation history - cars, airplanes, or other things - this is a great opportunity to not only see but hear, smell, and touch that history up close. Regular museum days still offer, as you say,... More

Thanks for reviewing. Visitors are often surprised at the depth and breath of the transportation history collection that is housed in our display hangars. Better yet is seeing the collection in motion and alive during one of our Second Saturday events. More

This museum is simply amazing. The un-assuming buildings house an amazing collection of antique airplanes and cars and other things from the "industrial" era of the first half of the twentieth century and a bit beyond. It is a truly enjoyable way to spend several hours strolling through history.

Thank you for reviewing. When WAAAM was first being built our team went with a design that they were familiar with - a basic hangar with as much interior space that we could pull off at the time. The additions that came after also followed the pattern. We might not look like much from the outside but the collection and... More

Do you have an interest in history? WAAM houses an awesome collection of planes, autos, and a few other sundries, all operating, with stories and videos to inspire the visitor. Currently with three full hangers of exhibits that soon will grow. The staff, predominately volunteers, is eager to bring your visit to an exciting level. Don't be shy, there is... More

Thank you for the review. Seeing our restoration shop in motion is always a wonderful treat. The airplane restoration shop is open on the Second Saturday of every month and most of the automobile work takes place in the museum so visitors can see it any time. When you keep a collection flying and driving there is always much to... More

Thank you for reviewing. Pilots love visiting the museum because they can fly right in to the Hood River/Ken Jernstedt airfield (4S2) which is next to WAAAM. It is a great way to go for a flight and see some of the early airplanes that taught America how to fly. More

The Museum is unusually deep in its collection of early civil aircraft. There are several one-of-a-kind machines on display.

Thank you for the review. Our big love here at WAAAM is to show people the airplanes that taught America how to fly and the cars that got folks out and about and to the airport. The collection is full of things that your everyday family would have had available to them across the teens, 20s, 30s, 40s and just... More

I was very pleasantly surprised to find out our wonderful the staff and exhibit actually is. Many times I saw the signs, but never had the time. Should had done this before. This museum is many times better than the Evergreen one , probably with more airplanes - which by the way area all but one authentic, and most still... More

Thank you for reviewing. We love our living history at WAAAM. Visitors on the Second Saturday of every month can see the collection in action but we also love giving folks an up close look at how we keep the collection in operation. We have several of our works-in-progress on display for people to see. With over 300 large objects... More

We headed to the museum, midweek, not knowing much about what to expect. Lots of space, with unusual planes and many automobiles, motorcycles and unique "oddities" and displays. The staff was minimal, but very friendly and helpful. We spent about three hours wandering the buildings and could easily have spent more time, had we planned the outing a bit better.... More

The museum is a great place to spend an hour or two after your hike and before dinner. It's built around a large collection of historic small planes, but includes tons of beautifully restored old cars.

Thanks for the review. While WAAAM originally started out as just an airplane collection, there are now more fun automobiles in the collection than airplanes. It is our goal to keep this transportation history alive so occasionally you'll see us driving or flying around Hood River. More

We were visiting Hood River for outdoor activities and were looking for something fun to do in town. I had heard that the museum was in town but didn't know anything about it.
