We spent a no wind afternoon in this museum and it's terrific. This was either our second or third visit & when go back we learn more. This last time our youngest son was with us, and although in college, like his father he loves old cars and airplanes. I sat and spent most of the time watching a fantastic... More

WAAAM entered the Hood River scene a mere few years ago with a large hanger style building of mostly airplanes. But the fever took over with antique cars, planes, motorcycles. It is predominately staffed by volunteers from the community who enjoy refurbishing the airplanes and vehicles. It now fills three hangers. All the displayed planes and cars are in full... More

Thank you for the review. Part of WAAAM's mission is to keep history alive by continuing to have the collection in flying and driving condition. Our restoration shop is always thrumming with the activity of our dedicated group of volunteers. Visitors can enjoy this behind-the-scenes action on the Second Saturday of every month. More

Thank you for reviewing. Since the museum opened in September 2007, WAAAM has seen an enormous amount of growth and now has over 300 large objects (airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles) in addition to countless smaller objects on display. More

Pretty interesting and fun for the guys--mom and daughter not so much. The guys said there were lots of unusual types of planes and autos. They would like to return since we kind of ran out of time.

Thanks for the review. In addition to the airplanes and automobiles featured in the WAAAM Collection, there is also a number of unusual transportation artifacts and other memorabilia in the collection that can appeal to people who like old things and can help give context to the bigger pieces of the collection. Ok, so I must say that this museum was/is one of the great finds when it comes to seeing/experiencing antique airplanes, automobiles and motorcycles. Additionally, the grounds/hangars are arranged in an historically interesting manner that includes an array of support equipment and memorabilia of the decades represented by the aircraft and autos. This is a TERRIFIC museum that will amaze... More

Thank you for reviewing. The museum shuffles its collection around about every half a year to tell different parts of the story of the WAAAM Collection. Sometimes things with similar engines or manufacturers will be grouped, other times things will be more chronological. Our volunteers are a great resource to get an insider view as to what is going on... More

The museum is about an hour and a half from Portland. This is quite a big surprise. The museum is a top level museum for this genre. They restore and keep the planes , autos and military transportation in great shape. I went during a fly in. The planes kept coming all day long. Many of the pieces are or... More

Thanks for reviewing. Here at WAAAM we love the location of the museum because it doesn't matter if you fly in to the airport or enjoy the drive down the Columbia River Gorge - the sights along the way are fantastic. Our Second Saturday events are always extra fun because that's when we get the airplane and automobiles of the... More

Very well done museum of antique aircraft. To be clear, almost all the planes in this museum were built before 1950, many as old as 1900's. Many of these aircraft are still maintained in flying condition and are flown at least once a year. For an aviation buff, this is a great collection. For an automotive enthusiast, the collection of... More

Thanks for the review. We like to have a mix of airplanes and cars in our collection mainly to help better tell the story of transportation history. Most of our visitors do not have much of a connection to early general aviation (and even if they do it can be hard to tell a 1936 from a 1939 apart) but... More

I am not one into museums this was a great place. Lots and lots of antique airplane and cars....and of course it was the cars I loved !!!! They have around 50 planes, plus dozens of automobiles and military jeeps. 1917 Curtiss JN40 Jenny; 1928 American Eagle and a 1931 Curtiss Wright 12-W; 1914 Ford Model T, Model A's,; early... More

Thanks for the review. The WAAAM Collection has over 100 airplanes, over 130 automobiles, and over 30 motorcycles in it's collection - which is still growing! Our website has a partial list of the collection highlights and is a great way to find out prices and special events. More

Hangars filled with all great stuff for you to feast yours eyes at, get close to, photograph as much as you like, speak to friendly staff who are mostly volunteers but so enthusiastic you would think they own them. Great DVD's to watch as you are going around and for purchase in the gift shop. Snacks and drinks available. Great... More

Thank you for reviewing. WAAAM's website is a great way to get to get a taste of what you'd see at the museum. Between the photos, videos, schedule of events, and so much more visitors can better understand the living history they can see at the museum. More

This museum isn't limited to antique cars, planes and motorcycles. There are also antique sewing machines, washing machines, household items, clothing and old movie footage. I watched a video of scenes from an old movie called Tarnished Angels that featured one of the airplane replicas displayed there. There's so much to see. Hubs is an airplane buff and thoroughly loved... More

Thank you for the review. WAAAM has three movie star airplanes in its collection as of 2015 - the two "main characters" of Tarnished Angels and a Curtiss Pusher used in many 1950s movies. The more you dig in to what the museum has the more wild and wacky history you can find. More
