This was a fun ride with a well educated and friendly volunteer train crew. The scenic ride along several lakes and the bay was spectacular. We had our choice of riding in a regular passenger car, an open car or an open car with a roof. There was a half hour stop in Rockaway where you could go down and... More

We thought this ride would offer a coastal view, but it really doesn't. I think the prices are very expensive for what it is, too. Plus, they rain is so slow, one could walk faster. Not much to do in Garibaldi either.

We were disappointed with the dinner train experience. The food was mediocre at best although the service was excellent. The trip route only has a few ocean views and those were nothing special. Mostly the tracks run alongside highway 101 and trees. The dining car seemed to have no ventilation at all and was so stuffy I got a headache.... More

Traveling up the Oregon coast we decided to take a break and travel on the railroad, having just arrived in time. Parking was easy, just next to the start in Garibaldi. For $18 each there is not much on offer. The loco was not the larger type shown in the pictures but a smaller logging company type, not so impressive.... More

Very nice ride along the bay, did not get to ride up to Rockaway due to track maitenance. The train gives you time to take pictures of the coastline with out having to find a place to pull over

This railroad uses a 2 cylinder steam powered locomotive to pull several passenger cars on a one hour excursion between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach with a half hour layover at each end. The locomotive began life pulling logging trains up steep grades and around sharp curves. It has 4 wheels that are shaft driven. The whistle and bell sound to... More

Kids loved it! Views were beautiful. You can choose from open, semi-open and covered train cars. You pay on board, ccards accepted.

This is definitely a step back in time and a very scenic trip on the Oregon Coast. We sat in the open air car at the very end of the train and the only negative is that the whistle can get very loud so if you have little ones, this might not be the seat for you! I was traveling... More

We've always watched this train when driving between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach. Now we finally get to ride it. Such friendly folks onboard, clean and many different types of seating. We enjoyed the uncovered, open-air car one way and the covered, enclosed "old time" car on the way back. Interesting to see what is going on on the water's edge... More

I would recommend getting there at least 30 minutes early as the open box cars fill up quickly on warm summer days. Even on cold ones it's nice to pick your seat particularly on the side of the train that faces the beach. Those have the best views. The train has quite a few cars in the beginning outfitted with...
