I was vacationing with friends who are huge train buffs. We came from Portland to ride this train. We planned it as part of our vacation. Ticket prices are reasonable, the staff are friendly and very chatty. You can ride in the covered open air car, inside, or out in the sun. The trip is a lot of fun, bring... More

This train takes a short trip up the coast with wonderful ocean views and then veers inland up the river. I went in fall and colors were very good for Oregon which is mostly green all year. A nice stop in Rockaway allows time for a snack and ice cream cone. Travels behind a vintage steam engine famous for staring... More

CHUG! CHUG! What a treat! Please do not miss this vintage Oregon Coast attraction. Even though the steam-engine ride between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach is only one and one-half hours round trip, traveling next to the Pacific and across jetties is a thrill. Nostalgically, the dining and club cars are time-warped right out of the 1920-1930s. Added touches like old-fashioned... More

Sort of like an amusement park ride, the car is always bouncing along as you pass some of the best ocean views anywhere. This is well worth the 1 1/2 hours you will spend. Take a picnic because there is only a 20 minute layover. the other option is to take one train there and one back 2 hours later.... More

We saw the train trip on a visit oregon website while planning our trip. We decided that since we were there, we would ride the short trip from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach just to say we did it. It was short and basically followed the same road we could have driven. We just like riding steam locomotive trains.

The views along the trip were fantastic. Takes you back in time and is a great way to see the coast.

We had a discount fare and enjoyed the opportunity to ride this railroad trip from Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach Oregon. You have a choice of cars to ride - open-air car, open-air with roof, regular rail car with opening windows or a closed window rail car. The trip is 30 minutes from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach, 30 minutes to enjoy... More

We had a wonderful ride from Rockaway Beach to Garibaldi and back on the Scenic Railroad. The ride was very scenic and interesting. Kids would love this, especially looking out for little Haystack Rocks and looking at the wonderful views. We were able to sit outside on the return and that really made a huge difference especially for the kids.... More

Great way to see the area while enjoying a ride in a restored train car pulled by a Vintage 1925 steam locomotive

The scenic railroad ride is a pleasant ride through a beautiful part of the Oregon coast. It is not a long ride but is a nice round trip ride, with stopovers in Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach. The train will be a thrill for any train enthusiast. A lot of the scenery can be seen from the highway but the experience... More
