This is definitely a step back in time and a very scenic trip on the Oregon Coast. We sat in the open air car at the very end of the train and the only negative is that the whistle can get very loud so if you have little ones, this might not be the seat for you! I was traveling... More

We've always watched this train when driving between Garibaldi and Rockaway Beach. Now we finally get to ride it. Such friendly folks onboard, clean and many different types of seating. We enjoyed the uncovered, open-air car one way and the covered, enclosed "old time" car on the way back. Interesting to see what is going on on the water's edge... More

I would recommend getting there at least 30 minutes early as the open box cars fill up quickly on warm summer days. Even on cold ones it's nice to pick your seat particularly on the side of the train that faces the beach. Those have the best views. The train has quite a few cars in the beginning outfitted with... We had a fine time riding the train between Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi! Fantastic views! Bring your own snacks. Can sit in sun or covered. We recommend. Family fun.

A short but scenic Steam Train ride in a vintage rail car along the Port of Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach. The volunteers did a great job explaining the history and workings of the engines. With more ridership and revenue they will be able to preserve this history and perhaps expand it to a longer trip. Worthwhile!

This train doesn't look like much at first glance, and once you find out you're only going to travel about 10 miles round trip you might wonder a) is it really worth it, and b) will this train make it 10 miles, but do go if you get the chance because it really is charming. You can book online and... More

This was fun ~ not expensive ~ and one got to see a lot of the ocean up close and personal. The steam engine wasn't working when we were on the excursion ~ but it was great fun, and took 1 and 1/2 hours. For only 6 miles on way, it was worth it ~ so 1/2 hour to get... More

Very nice experience overall. The food was just so-so; not all that great (mashed potatoes tasted like they came straight outta the box; canned string beans). A bit difficult for elderly people to climb up into the dining car, so be aware of that. Could have had better signage as to where we were to board the train ... we... More

The Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad in Garibaldi, Oregon is a nice trail ride even if its somewhat short. It has a steam engine that is interesting and open air cars that gives you a great view of the forest along the route.

Driving US101 can be a hazardous way to see the Oregon coast for the driver. We took the train and "left the driving to..." the engineer. The train runs from Garibaldi to Rockaway Beach, about 5 miles, at a leisurely pace to enjoy the unique views. Cars are vintage coach. At Rockaway Beach we spent time walking the beach. Go... More
