The parking lot in Alton Baker park is the starting point of a great running trail that extends almost all the way to Springfield, paralleling the Willamette River. Pre's trail has history (posted at the beginning of the trail specific to Steve Prefontaine and his relationship with Eugene. The trail will take you by Autzen Stadium and the Autzen dog... More

Alton Baker Park, which includes Pre's trail is a local treasure. The trail is popular and it's common to see a world class athlete run by you. The path takes you through the forest, through the meadow and also by Autzen Stadium.

Pre's Trail is a chipped bark/mulch trail that winds along near the river and Autzen Stadium. Your legs, shoes and sox will get dirty, but it really is easy on your legs. For runners 50+ who know the story of how Steve Prefonaine wanted something like this built and the city of Eugene built it after he died it is... More

A memorial to running great Steve Prefontaine, this multiple loop wood chip trail emulates the trails Pre had run on and admired in Europe. Run or walk through various scenery, water, field, park. Washrooms on site.

Pre's Trail is well-maintained and scenic. It features lots of ducks, geese, and some herons, as well as crows, and sometimes osprey and other birds. Much of it is along a canal. It offers a 4 mile loop or shorter loops. One can park at Alton Baker Park or at the south gate of Autzen Stadium. In the 4 mile... More

Bark trail. 4+ mile consisting of 3 loops that you can choose your distance from. It is a fabulous trail to run on near the University. We loved it. Great dog park at one point along the trail and it is huge. We loved running this trail.

As a runner I always look for a good place to run while travelling. When in Eugene checking out Pre's Trail was a no-brainer. It runs through Alton Baker Park and is a lot of fun, especially knowing the history of Prefontaine. At the trail's head there is a plaque talking about Pre and the history of the trail. The... More

Since we were up to take a tour of the U of OR campus, I couldn't pass the opportunity to run in the foot steps of Pre. What a legacy! The trail is well marked, safe and fun! I ran around 7:30 a.m. in the rain. One of the best runs I have had in years!

From my Hayward Field review, I can tell you I'm not a fan of track or running in general, but even without the lore of Steve Prefontaine, this is such a scenic jogging trail that is well worth spending a few minutes of time on or visiting multiple times if you're in the area. Add the history of Prefontaine to... More

We go there often because it is the best way to Hendricks Park, a sprawling forested and planted area above the UO campus. Not to be missed. ,Pre's memorial is there, to an athlete dying young. Watch those curves. Don't speed. What a loss. We just walked there two days ago and go at least once a week. New blooms,... More
