We spent a day this autumn driving from Joseph, Oregon to Imnaha, then via a gravel road that was about 30 miles - maybe more - into the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. Of course, it was slow going and our car was filthy when we returned to Joseph. It is a beautiful drive with pull-outs along the way. Leaves... More

The long and winding road from Joseph down to the Snake River is REALLY long and winding, with a side trip to the southern overlook from which one cannot see the river, but it is still a sight to behold. Just before we got down to the river, while still in the trees, a black bear ran across the highway... More

So beautiful! We drove through here to get to Wallowa Lake. We also rode our bikes around. The scenery is stunning.

We went on a jet boat trip with Hells Canyon Adventures and had a great time--beautiful scenery, bears, eagles, deer, and other wildlife.

We hadn't been to Hells Canyon because it is very remote. The drive in and out of this area is an adventure in corkscrew roads! We decided to make it a stop on our way back to Oregon from Coeur d'Alene Idaho. We booked a jet boat tour with hellscanyonadventures.com. It takes off from the Hells Canyon Dam. We spent... More

We took 3 days to drive around...would not want to spend less. The drive up to the dam was awesome, although a bit of an anti climax when you get to the structure itself. The canyon is so vast it takes your breath away. But that is only a piece of the story...the people are the real National Treasure. Frost... More

Did this down the snake river and what a fantastic view. Everywhere! Good lunch. I have to say the price is a bit high, but everything is anymore. The boat driver and his son were excellant hosts. 😊

The canyon is an amazing place, but visit in the early to late spring, summer it is a furnace. Jet boats leave on tours from Lewiston Idaho and run the Snake River in the bottom of the canyon. There are also a few places you can drive to the river, Pittsburg Landing being the easiest and best complete with a... More

We took the jet boat tour up the canyon and it was an amazing trip. We stopped at the old ranch and had a picnic lunch. We saw tons of wildlife including sheep/rams, deer, an eagle and more. Our tour let us out at a neat little waterfall too and it was very fun wading in the water and getting... More

This unique area and overlook is a must-see while exploring NE Oregon. The views of Seven Devils and other spots of the canyon are splendid. Take your time and enjoy!
