We decided to charter a boat while we were staying with friends nearby. We called ahead and found out that we would be going out on the Smoking Reel for Bottom Fishing. While the first half our day was very slow, our captain did not relent in finding us the best fishing, while showing us his favorite parts of the... More

Reserved two 52' boats, the Samson and the Endeavor. Brought along 38 friends and had a great time fishing. Both Captains and their crews did an excellent job of getting us to the fish and bringing us back home. The office staff was friendly and very helpful. Would recommend anyone wanting to go fishing at sea to contact Dockside. Lots... More

Went out for 5 hours of fishing and had a great time. Never had been before. Didn't know what we were doing, and they were so helpful. We had a great captain, caught lots of rockfish and got them all cleaned for $1 each at the end of the day. Highly recommend...but take something for sea sickness before. It ruined... More

I went out on a short excursion with my teenage son and nephew. I had dramamine along, just in case, which I recommend; one of the teens felt queasy around the 20 minute mark. We did see some gray whales (not guaranteed you'll see anything, of course). We had a fairly large group on the boat. The biggest downer were... More

We had so much fun! It was our lucky day because we saw whales immediately and multiple ones. We even got to see a whale breach which apparently is very rare. The weather was good for us and the water wasn't too choppy. We had a blast and the boat captain was great.

Had us show up and waited until all the other charters had left then said "the weather was too bad" i.e. 'only 8 people showed up so its not worth our while.' Every other charter went out and had a great catch. Had they let us know instead of have us show up and wait till 8:10 to say they... More

Seven of us went out on the Samson for a fishing trip, including a 7&10, year old and a few teenagers. The captain and crew were great, very good with the kids and very attentive to the gear and fishing. We caught lingcod and rockfish (a few varieties). We left by 8am and had all caught our limit within a... More

My wife and I went out on the Samson Wed sept 10th with Capt Lars and deckhand Dave for Coho the two of them worked really hard moving around to locate the fish. They were successful and we limited out with a really great grade of fish. I have to say these were two of the best charter crews we... More

Overall, we had a good trip. I went out with my dad, who, unfortunately didn't catch a salmon, but I was lucky enough to catch one. The captain of the 50 foot boat called "Samson" seemed like a genuinely nice guy, and he seemed to do his best to get us into the fish during the trip. I was not... More

Had a charter with them on September 7th. We caught our limit of salmon in less than 2 hours of fishing and were back at the dock in time for breakfast. Also had a charter out of Newport the next day that was much less successful and had much poorer service. Both charters fished the same area (a few miles... More
