Ferget (I did say that on purpose) yer luxor movie thee-a-tors. This one has seats that were removed from the Orpheum in Sioux City about 40 years ago. Plus some sprung-out couches in the back for those who can't get close enough (to each other). Popcorn, yes. Good prices, yes. Totally funky in each of the 3-4 theaters there. But,... More

In this era of look-alike "multiplexes" and look-alike Hollywood films, it's wonderful for any community to have an oasis for films in an otherwise cultural dessert. That's Darkside - an oasis for films in Corvallis that nourish, provoke and challenge minds that corporate America would prefer to remain sleeping.

There are generally always great movies to be seen at the Darkside...and most of the movies won't make it to the mainstream theaters. This is a definite favorite place for international and art films.

This is the place to see thought provoking documentary, foreign, art and indie film, an experience rather than entertainment. Its got a family feeling inside, unlike the mega cinema complex. Reasonably priced, too.

Staff are friendly and fun, seem to be genuinely enjoying what they do. Selection of films is eclectic and interesting. This theatre is a wonderful asset to the community.

Unlimited popcorn. Good choices of movies. Not crowded. Local theater. I enjoy the Darkside because the movies have an extended review posted on 4th street so you can read about them before seeing them. The reviews are all done by the owner so they are consistently interesting and meaningful.

The Darkside Cinema plays the films that you want to see but won't be playing at the multi-plexes down the road. All day Wednesday is matinee price and the popcorn has free refills if you want to get up in the middle of the film. The location is walkable from the university and also has student discounts.

I love the Darkside because it let's you take your own snacks in. We always buy popcorn and they have yeast to put on it, but still you could take your own in. I also like the selection of films, not so commercial but more artistic and independant

Your typical independent movie house in movie choices but definitely has its own thing going on as far as decor and theater rooms go. The decor has that quirky, retro, thrift store, film geek look that for brings about a kind of eccentric carnival visiting feel that i love. The theaters, or at least the only one i've been in... Darkside Cinema, the lone independent cinema in town, provides great films at reasonable prices. Because the theater is independent, it usually obtains films only after they have had their first runs elsewhere, but the experience of attending makes waiting worthwhile. Theater seats have been obtained from a variety of places, but they are comfortable. The owner, possessing a dry wit,... More
