Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery has a great little lake at the end of the hatchery that has a wonderful large population of fish that have "escaped" from the hatchery and grown to very large size. It is fun to feed them and watch the water boil as they compete for the food pellets (available for a quarter from vending machines).

We did not see any wizards here, but we did see lots and lots of fish - mostly trout. This is a great stop for the river trail or you can drive to it. The "falls" by the bridge are fascinating and we got in the water here briefly to cool off. The hatchery is nice and shady, has good... More

Every time we are in Central Oregon, this is a place where adults and kids want to go. Drive over a bridge with the Metolius river flowing with beautiful blue green water and you will be at the Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery. The hatchery is in a lovely location surrounded by woods and the ever babbling river. The focus, however,... More

Not your average fish hatchery! Feed the fish (more fun than you think at first) we saw Steller's Jays, Belted Kingfishers, dragonflys, small birds too fast for me to identify, lots of information, beautiful location. There is a trail to the falls, but we didn't go there this time, but we will go back.

Wanna see BIG fish? This is worth the trip. Special pond with a bunch of 5-10 lb. trout. Educational about how the hatchery provides world class fishing on the Metolius River in Central Oregon.

Worth a trip, and has great river trails. Lots to see there, and the employees are super helpful. There are plenty of exhibits and fish for the kids to see.

When in the area, always stop here to walk the grounds and feed the fish. Nice clean bathrooms as well. Beautiful views of the Metolius River from the bridge leading to the hatchery. Large holding pond at the back of the hatchery with 15-24 inch rainbow trout that can be fed by purchasing feed from many available dispensers. Great fun... More

Wizard Falls is a lovely place to visit anytime but especially on a hot day. The fish always enjoy the food to be purchased at the pond. Great fun to watch them make a dash for it! The path around the pond gives a different perspective. Fortunate visitors might see a bald eagle or osprey in a snag waiting for... More

WE rode bikes here from Camp Sherman Store. A good 5 miles up and then 5 miles back. NOt hard but some hills. Hatchery was very interesting and kids can feed the fish. The falls were the coolest thing: bright blue waters ! great place for a picnic, and nice to see the history of it all...
