Brookings is a wonderful town with several beaches. My favorites are Whaleshead and Harris Beach. Whaleshead because of the long stretch of beach perfect for walking (two miles plus a little bit round trip) and of course the rock formation that looks like...a whale's head:) Harris beach has beautiful rock formations and at low tide, quite the gathering of star... My car got broken into and my purse was stolen at the visitor center right at crissy state park in broad daylight and i was just passing through . Although the cops said that its a rare occurrence here the locals were singing a different tune. Id say drive on through !!

Brookings is like the banana belt of the Oregon coast. It is a great place to stay and explore the beaches, the town and shops. If we didn't live so far away we would go there lots more.

I like the beaches in this town, the parks, the friendly people, the hotel choices. And so much more. A lovely place to visit and I would love to live here.

I will be going back here just because it's so relaxing and everyone is so congenial. It does pay to live at the beach! Their attitudes show it!

Bookings, OR is one of the most beautiful places I have been on the Oregon Coast. The weather is mild and the scenery beautiful. Harris Beach is a must with it's beautiful shoreline and sea life. Take a nice picnic lunch and enjoy the afternoon. The sunsets are also beautiful.

We have family in Brookings so we visit as often as possible. The dining choices are reasonable, the motels/Inns can be a pig inn a poke but the large chain Inn at the port is always a safe bet, B & B's are available, vacation rentals are varied and many places are pet friendly if you call in advance. There... More

The beaches and B&Bs make the stop worthwhile; the town is just average, but some of the restaurants offer excellent food for reasonable price.
